I havent yet, any software recommendations? Free preferrably? Ive got nearly every Moog emulation I could find, but theres a pile of them...

I like the 303 for 16th-note kbbb style basslines, but for my slower proggy stuff I usually just go with whatever sounds good.

Oh yeah, Ive got a Taurus emulation, that ought to be good too           .

the problem is you have to sample it if you want it stable but i guess the emu could do the trick, maybe arturia or minimonsta and maybe some free one but haven t tried , the moog saw in omnisphere and the one in the logic sampler are good too .
you could get close to the same sound out of something like uhe ace but with more processing the oscillator don t sound as good as a real minimoog .

im pretty sure i can do it with one of the freeware. I usually use samples for bassline instruments anyway for the reason you mentioned, except... er, when i dont. I bet Memorymoon might do the trick too..           .

Ive been messing with all sorts of plugins, inspired by this thread...

Ive gotten great results from TAL Bassline, Elektrostudio Micromoon, Smartelectronics Taurus, TC|Works Mercury, and digging the polyphonic-303 sound from Redstair033, all those now live in the live setup's bass rack along with a few other SH-101, Moog, and 303 emulations. Got rid of Tau and Tritium, they're both decent 303-basses, but the lack of release control was frustrating.

Im especially liking how the Micromoon sounds, Elektrostudio has always been a favorite. Nice stable tones           .

I love TAL, tried Elektro for bass but I dont think I was in teh right mood or something, Ive been meaning to give it another try though cuz Ive heard it praised quite often.

Noisemaker I haven't tried for basses, seems like overkill somewhat with all its options, but I love it for general analog sounds. Before the recent update it had stability issues and was one of the few plugs to actually manage to crash Renoise, now its rock solid and hasn't had a single hiccup

As for the U-No-62; I prefer Elektrostudio Six Month June and DCO-6 (which afaik is still beta but sounds great) for Juno purposes, which so far hasn't included basslines. Not that the U-No isn't good, I just don't really feel the need for 3 different Juno 6's

I found an older free plug just called 'SH-101', it sounds pretty good too, despite its obviously not-Roland-licensed 'Roland SH-101' logo right on the GUI. I hadn't heard of it from any freeware sites or KVR, so I assume its not on those due to the use of the Roland logo unlicensed and whatnot, but it can be found on the developer's website, I found it seaerching Google for 'SH-101 VST free'.

Sylenth I havent tried, or used on this new x64 machine, my copy was the older, non-x64 compatible version and filled my ears with horrific shrieking static when loaded, I haven't gotten around to getting the update either... Ought to do that.

That and try Elektro again....           .

Dave Smith is one of my personal heroes Ive got my eye on a Mopho (the Tetra is basically 4 Mophos), Ive read lots of good things, and 400 US is a great price for an analog (also the Vermona monophonic desktop model caught my interest)

Ive seen SH-101s going for around 400-600 US on eBay, if not cheaper, so that might actually be a better buy at least for me for my first analog hardware if when I can afford one, they're still available           .

Maybe in usability yes, but I'm not tooo convinced it's 'the best bass' synth overall.
I as well use it all the time for bass, but I have to admit it sounds somewhat plasticy.
Unfortunately I haven't found one usable bass presets in all of the available banks

i dream of a Mopho alongside a Vermona Kick Lancet run by Live, that just sounds really awesome to me. The Mopho looks like it's digital enough to store presets (im pretty sure it is but forgot), so I can't imagine it would be any more live-work than the software basses Im using now. but ANALOG.

WITH A DSI TEMPEST ALONGSIDE.

Hey I can dream.           .
