Xochipilli i am sick because i am part of this forum long time before you even discovered internet?Thats an interesting theory i must admit...
By the way Pixan please leave Cosma out of this topic, after all he was just the exception to the rule and the rule is that 90% of the music out there made just on PC with an ordinary soundcard and everyday speakers is tottally shit especially when its being produced by people with no music backround and knowledge at all not to mention talent.
We all know that in order to drive a car you got to use your feet to push the accelerator and brake pedals plus to move your hands in order to move the wheel BUT in order to drive the right and safe way we all must attend driving lessons otherwise sooner or later we will crash on the road, some of us might be lucky enough and avoid being involved in an accident but 90% of the people will most probably crash due to lack of knowledge and experience on driving a car the proper way.Put the example on the psytrance scene today and you will understand why 90% of the music made just on a PC with no prior knowledge sounds like a car crash

but how exactly does the shop suffer? I fail to see the logic between an increase in labels and an overall decrease in sales for the shops. Can someone please help me connect A to B?

Well, i think its because the shops end up keeping heavy amounts of overstock of the bad CD's, therefor, even if they sell-out on the good titles, the increase in labels keeps the shelves filled up with "garbage" that just doesn't sell, but yeah, the store had to pay for those CD's in the first place.

Whoa Detox, maybe the one to blame is Steinberg for developing VST and making able to an average guy with a decent cpu, soundcard, midi controller and monitoring; make quality music.
Why do you think that having tons of hardware and outboard gear means that this person has any talent? I Know guys who just make music with a CPU a budget sound card and monitors and makes really good and professional tracks. And I also know guys who have all the andromdas, nords, virus and rackmounted fx and their music is crap!
Really u might sue Steinberg, they are responsible for al this.

Indeed, no need for a fancy milliondollar studio to make awsome music, just check this one... made long time ago (1994) and still kicking... i even think Logic Bomb made a remix of it (Extension if im not misstaken)

{{{{ with all due respect!! }}}}
Well well well ... did u "read" my post?
Care to share or impart some knowledge here??
Or is this just a place where we come to vent our frustration with no means for a solution?
This is turning out to be more of a blog than a forum guys!!

A debate is nice and can be constructive and all opinions should be respected even when you do not agree. BUT could some people please stop the personal attacks? It's not a Kindergarden but a forum where people should learn how to treat other people with respect no matter if they disagree or not.

Morning
I just feel some people here go a bit over the edge when they respond to Detox. There's not need for those attacks. Debate all you like but stay polite.

He have all right to say what he want so no matter if you think he should accept the "consequences" then you know very well that it's better to debate polite than with insults. And you also know he does not write insults directed at anyone posting here. On the contrary I see plenty insults going his way. As I wrote. Debate and disagree but leave out the attacks.
There should not be any "consequences" for someone starting a debate where he do not hurt any of you. If he think 160+ bpm and bad quality music has hurt the scene then it is his right and it's your right to debate why you think he's wrong - In a civilized way!
He did not once attack any of you directly!
