must read more about the vulture one sounds good! .. but not only warmth that Im looking for, Im not sure i think vulture is a great distortion unit. I'd like a comp with ratio/threshhold atleast (for limiting as well) for sure for tha peaks and design too.

it be can be "subblte" with 0.2% thd to 99% it s more used as a saturator for warming even it can work great at distortion too..but if you want a compressor it s not the unit to get ...even if what it does on the dynamic is great on the right sources.. it also help your mix to get more speration, depth and sound more 3d (cause of the limiting you get more separation between sounds and you don't really bother matching carrefuly both side in a mix situation resulting in more stereo / open sound on the side, also the harmonics and transients rounding wihtout loosing punch but even enhancing it on some source contribute to the more 3d and depth) to give a description of this unit...

do you need a stereo or a mono compressor. eq, compressor, acoustic treatment, what is your priority and how much do you really have to spend on the lot? maybe spend some time researching on gearslutz and the tapeop forum.

i really don't recommend the TLAudio stuff. I used to sell it. Lots came back. It's very so-so ("mama" as we say in Japanese), better off spending more and having something that will last you for life.           http://hermetechmastering.com : http://www.discogs.com/artist/Gregg+Janman : http://soundcloud.com/babaluma

if you have the cash a pair of distressors or germ comps would be ideal. both sound great. both extremely versatile. been using my germ comps on a daily basis for four years now and they are the coolest pices of gear i have ever used.           http://hermetechmastering.com : http://www.discogs.com/artist/Gregg+Janman : http://soundcloud.com/babaluma

I will be sure how much exactly in a few weeks. Hopefully in 2.What i need are necessearies, additional gear like distortion hopefully will be added in future. Priority is good imac, one killer mic, rme for 4 mics, good comp , good eq, native instruments komplete 8, pro tools, cubase 6.5, good field/mobile recorder, wavlab and absorbers. Not more than 12-13 thousands but maybe even less.           https://soundcloud.com/shivagarden

damn you need lot of things mate... recording with rme a/d and their pre you could start like this .. but good analog chain with rme convertion and pre you will loose some of the goodness. the chain is as good as the weakest link..
for the best quality put the priority in room acoustic and monitoring if you re not happy with your mix ,you need these thing sorted ,then in ad/da convertion and hardware gears imo it s the way to go .

imo if you save for a imac save for a metric halo you will get ad/da in the league of lavry black , and a pre that could sell for the price of the uln2.. plus the software is amazing..really pro stuff , these interface have more than 10 years..but these guys know their shit and how to make a converter ship sound at his best.
i didnt understand why so much fan boys of metric halo but i become one myself , i love their stuff this company is great...

if you go mac you need metric halo... it will be one of your best buy trust me.. at first you will find it expensive but it will grow on you to the point you can t work wihtout . if the number of i/o suit you the uln2 is a great buy specially second hand but pick the one with updated clock and dsp, or go lio 8 or uln8 you will be sorted in term of convertion forever...great stability, great software good dsp plugin similar to sonnox quality and some are better imo + the graph ! it s like modular routing you can make complex chain of dsp plugin ,parrallel/mid side...great for mastering.
the only bad thing is that it dont have midi but in fact it s a good thing, cause you can buy something that use the best midi ship with the less jitter i dont remmeber the name right now but it s cheap , i got one for 30 euros, just a cable that do midi in or out to usb

Metric Halo was my very first thaught (never tested one, but from reading so much great things about this brand it must be very decent) but is too expensive for now. Lucky you good to know maybe a lucky find will happen.
