Errr, there are cheaper festivals in the UK. Look at Shamania or Sacred Bull or Sunrise. 3 days long (well 5 for Sunrise!!), gonna be superb fun and coming in a long way under £100 a ticket!!!

Er as for the sacredbull festival .. i am involved in this festival and it is still no way anything near setup to cater for the amount of people Glade is and the organisation of last years was abismal, this year will be better im sure but the amount of leagal red tape to organise such an event is outstanding ... were lucky to have such an event this size, as the risks are atronomical and yeah 100 quid seams steep but all the peeps complaining would never risk there homes, relasionships, and livly hood to create such a massivo happening. if they were to charge 65 and lose out badly there would never be this event again thust makin the uk, renown for the peeps that aint got n e real big Psy events..

wish i had the balls to up our door prices but then again i could never be bothered with the negative posts (realism):)

Just be happy we got this and if ya dont want to attend comercial events .. head for the hills as only listen to local acts!

rythmns of peace- new year was sponsored by something and it was very weird- it was just a small party with all these girls handing round weird flashy lights and banners- bit weird at a trance party espeacially a small one by a lake but no where near ruined it......... just put a little bit more strangeness to the party

good on you ans for rejecting....

sponsorship makes a great financial relief in some cases

glade is glade and there is alotta fun to be had

peace

I firmly beleive a large reason for the high ticket price is down to the huge number of areas for the number of people there. All the costs big bucks, especially in the UK.

So in answering the original q, no I don't think it's a rip off for what it is. It's just not what I want to spend my money on...

I've been to Glade, had my fun but the music has never done it for me so I'm off elsewhere this yr

i think the scale and production size is donw to the individual organisation, however from experience i can firmly see the production at Glade to be quality from the music areas to the pro stewarding and welfare... as for sunrise i cannot judge although they Are using a photo of the Glade Festival on their promotional material... why i dont know !

also sunrise festival have used the sunrise party in manchesters 'sunrise' logo on all thier promotional flyers, posters etc without permission!

tbh, somehow i don't think the sunrise festival will actually happen...

i dont understand the story of this being a new location and stuff, one of the reasons i though its gonna be in a new location is the problems they had with the neighbours last year of the music being too loud, i know also lot of people jumped the fence but i dont really mind that as long as they dont steal and cause trouble, so i though this year its all gonna be a new venue for the sake of VOLUME and "security" cause last year was a bit embarassing to listen to psy music after 2300 which sounded like its coming out of an IPOD headphones, so i hope it aint gonna be the same shit again...

Yeah it is pretty much a rip-off, i've been to the last 2 only cos I was stewarding there, which meant you didnt have to buy a ticket and you could take your own drink in. No way can I afford that sort of price, much better to do some of the European festies instead, the UK is expensive, cold, and shit.           Even a stopped clock gives the right time twice a day.

re: volume at last years - I thought everyone pretty much knew the story by now - I think I posted this before - but here's a bit of an interview i did with Simon Posford from Upfront which explains what happened...

You seemed to have the bad luck of being the only person to lose out from the
freak good weather at the Glade last year... must have been frustrating?

Not as frustrating as having the volume turned down as low as it could go, without actually being "off"! Actually, the monitors on stage were quite loud, so the first I knew about it was when Tristan came up to me on stage and said "Don’t worry mate – it’s not your fault!" to which I replied, confused, "what do you mean?" and he turned the monitors down.... whereupon a hushed silence fell over the place... I could swear some tumbleweed rolled by... and if I listened intently, I could hear the P.A trickling out the tinniest smallest sound, underneath the cries from the crowd of "Turn it up mate!"

I was later told it was due to the freak weather... it was quieter than a gnat’s chuff in front of the sound system, but if you went to a village a few miles down the road, the Mayor’s Wife’s bed was jumping with every kick drum! And it seemed the whole village had their phones on re-dial to the police...so I was a bit gutted, yes....
---

As for being a rip off - I've played the chillout at the last few and have done a few other bits & bobs in years gone by - I'm not playing this year and have been quite happy to buy a ticket - couldnt be arsed blagging & think its decent value for money...

I think not being able to afford something is very different to it being a rip off...

That wasn't what people were saying around me
at the centre of the dancefloor!!
The most amusing was the cry of

100quids on the ticket equals the cost of the event innit ... ripoff ??? eeeeerrr wake up ur in england.. for sure there are cheaper events in europe and equally they represent the price of putting on the event ...
excellent event if u ask me ... im speaking from both sides of the fence...
maybe the moaners should try putting a budget together for such an event - you would struggle!.... much the same as the glade organisers would struggle to write pre-reports of rip-off festivals that they have no idea about

get real... too many differ music and no directions... uk speaking, german for the ideas... europe aint too different in price, just the laws... and to be honest the outdoor scene is all wrong here... old party orgs using something for their own power!! £100 insult my english partner... get real!

ow p.s... the english countryside!! LOL!! fucking kidding... nothing is real anymore... wheres the forests and the natural lands... sorry farmer land!! good for festivals but laws which wont let it... 1992 castle mortan was your ways... dirty people!           U.V Art & Design

I had a really good time - hot weather meant I spent very little time inside any of the marquees - was mainly by the Origin & ID stages out in the sun or under a tree... personal trance highlights were Tristan, Commercial Hippies & James Monro on the Origin and what appears to becoming an annual sunday afternoon dose of Tripswitch - but overall best act for me was Alabama 3 on the main stage... hurrah for the Thali cafe veggie fry ups which kept me going all weeekend... didnt bump into quite as many people as previous years - but hello to everyone i did.. so overall a success...

Really rather good. Organisation, weather, music (that which I heard, anyway)... I really didn't feel inclinded to spend much time at all in a tent (although Liquid had me indoors for a while at various points) so the main indoors thing I caught was Juno Reactor - very theatrical, looked and felt like the theatre scene towards the end of King Kong! More people meant it was harder to find one's crew if you got split up and although I spent a while blissfully bimbling on my own in the sunshine bumping into random friends from various places, the increased capacity showed itself by the fact that there were many people who I knew were there but I didn't see more than once, if at all

It was fantastic to finally get the chance to strut some Voice of Cod on a decent-sized outdoor stage; we all had a great time and judging by the way the dancefloor filled up despite the blistering heat, so did plenty of other people! We were very pleased with the way Paul's didge worked in the set, and I doubt it will be the last time he plays with us Big big thanks to the organisers for inviting us to play, and to Regan, Chris and the production team for making everything so easy.           Mastering - http://mastering.OOOD.net :: www.is.gd/mastering
