i see the glade have announced that they are putting the price up for this years festival.

£100 ...what.....

they say its so they can spend more on security, because last year there was some people who got thing stolen.

well if the security spent more time patrolling the camp site and less time looking through peoples bags to stop you bringing in your own beer ect then they might got the low lifes that was doing the steeling .

we was stopped from entering the aren last year because we had some sandwiches and a bottle of blackcurrent cordial ,these were for my 6 year old as she is a fussy eater and would not eat anything that they was selling in the arena.

we tryed to tell the security this but was told in a rather rude manner that we eather throw the stuff away or we would not be allowed into the arena.
they said that if we wanted to feed her we would have to walk back to the campervan area and make her dinner there ,as there was no way we would be allowed into the arena with our own food or drink.

this gets me onto another matter..£30 to park a camper van ...this is on top of the over the top price we have allready paid for the ticket to the party....and to top it all off they charge you a booking fee for this as well as chargeing you a booking fee for your ticket.
if this was not enough when we got there there was 3 porter lo,s at one end of the camping area and 3/4 at the other .....come on glade we have paid a lot of money to come to this festival andd this is the best you can do, and to rub salt into the wounds there was 2 porter loo,s for the security people who was checking your tickets as you drove into the camping area to use. we tryed to use these as the otheres was full after only a cpl of hours ,but was told that these was staff only ?

sorry to be so down about the whole thing . as it was a really great party and all thing said we did have a great time and was supprised to see about 30/40 freinds from goa there.

so come on glade dont be such a pain and lighten up please.

how come you can fly from the uk to germany and get a train to the voov and pay to get in and also spend a night in a 5 star hotel in berlin after, all for the same price as a ticket to the glade?

work that one out?

is it just me being a moaning old git of is this out of order
if the uk psy trance scene is going to be anywhere near as good as the rest of the world
please lets not look at the profite we can make out of it all .

i know the criminal justice bill has pushed things this way , but i am shure it does not really have to be one big money making scam.

i would love to hear other peoples view on this matter as i am shure i am not the only one out there that thinks this way.....or am i just a bitter twisted old pot hippy?...lol

love pease to all

Rip off! never been to this on-the-borderline-commercial festy, and i think i never will try going.
First reason being the posh tick price, and second the live acts have never been appealing enough to me. For the price of one tick, i think they can supply enough for 1 whole stage during 4 days.

well i went to the glade the first time last year and i must say if i convert this money to israeli money (cause im israeli) its probably the most expensive event i have ever been to and i also been to the voov the year before and i think its hard to compare the two. i mean the glade has 9 stages of all diffrent electronic music which is great, its not all about psy-trance, i had the opprtuinity to see acts i have never seen and hear music that i didnt think i like to party to but it turned out great.
I was camping on site so i cant comment on the camper van site.

For me this was the best festival i have ever been too from people to music and drugs but this year i dont think im going cause i just dont have enough money...i think it cost me and my girlfriend about 350 pounds including everything which is outragous and yes with that money i can go to berlin and the voov and stay in a hotel, but i must tell you that the Glade had much better energies then the VooV (for me) the people were just more friendy and it seemed a bit more clean. In the voov i have seen a few fights and some really dirty people which in the glade didnt happen ( or at least i didnt see it and nothing was stolen from my tent).

For me the glade was worth every penny, but since i havent had a job since january, i guess the glade became a luxury for me, so i will just have to wait and read the reviews see if it was worth the gold.

The real problem here is ***** who did actually steal from peoples tents whilst they were in them.

Why do the few always have to spoil it for the many ?

There were so many beautiful trusting people there -it was great a really good vibe and now these people have had that innocence of what a festival can be about broken .

I went to the first glade whilst i was in uni in london, and had the most amazing experience ever... paid 65 pounds for the ticket and maybe another 125 or 150 including transport.....

TOTALLY WORTH IT
Considering it was the first 'electronic music' english festival i went to!!

its sad that a few people are ruining it for everyone, i saw people jump over the wall and was quite appalled....
the overall energy was beautifull, i met people from all over our psychedelic planet and got absolutely no bad vibes from anywhere...

Extra security is only going to be to the benefit of everyone there, it just sucks that england is so expensive for everything!! 100 pounds a ticket... ouch. Convert that into indian rs. hahahahahaha, dont bother

Hope i can make it to back to london this summer!!

despite the [huge] ticket prices for this festival compared to others abroad, i can definitely tell you this is not in order for the organisers to get a new body-kit on their ferrarri's... putting a festival on in england these days requires huge expenditures - getting licenses and security is very dear - as well as everything else...

perhaps look to the fact that england is one of the most expensive countries in the world for anything, that the government is fleecing its people every which way, and that promoters are trying against huge obstacles to put on QUALITY parties for everyone.

(glade was well worth it the last 2 years... if you can afford, go)

The last two years at the glade were fantastic. I didn't think the ticket price was a rip-off then and I think it is probably fair now. Like Hamish says, the UK is one of the most expensive countries in the world. We shouldn't be comparing to germany, but maybe to japan perhaps (although I have no idea how expensive festivals are out there).

The only thing that pissed me off was the fact that the program wasn't included in the price. Having paid £90 for a ticket, and then being charged a few quid for the line-up takes the piss. I'm guessing there is some financial reason behind it (all done in cash, possibly off the books, VAT etc.).

With £100 + booking fee (prob another £5) you really should get glasto style programmes.

For me I would pay a lot of money to dance barefoot to psytrance in my beloved english countryside. Hope the weather is as good as the last two years.

Either way I'm buying my ticket tomorrow           www.BarakaRecords.com/brij.htm

That's why I've been to Voov for the last 5 years yet I haven't ever been to Glade. Fair play to those who want to spend their pounds on a legal English festy, I am well aware that to organise such an event legally it costs a LOT of money. And I've heard that it is an amazing event, very eclectic and lots of smiling faces etc etc. It's just that I can't bring myself to part with such a lot of money for one weekend.

Saying that I do have a lot of respect for the organisers. They indeed deserve it for organising such a venture and making is a success.

The 1st Glade was great as it was the 1st thing of it's sort in the UK. But the music didn't do it for me

Last yr wasn't so good, pretty much the same lineup and the atmosphere wasn't as good IMO, plus the theiving

The way I see it, the Glade is trying to be too much and to cater for too many different things. I mean they've got 9 areas but still only about 10000 people, (whereas the european festies have say 3 areas and the same sort of numbers). So at the Glade you're either gonna get people evenly spread and so it'll all look a bit thin on the ground, or one or two areas will be packed and the rest really bare

Reduce the number of areas and I reckon that would go a long way to reducing the costs:

less areas = means less outlay on acts/infrastructure/etc

but with the same numbers you get the revenue to pay for it at a reasonable ticket price and have all your areas with a decent number of people like the euro festies.

Very much doubt I'll go this yr.

That's typical on this side of the world (i.e. england).. compare the prices of european festivals to those here (and the fact that there there isn't even a need for security) and I can't possibly understand why someone wouldn't rather fly to spain, germany or portugal for fests.

But each to their own... I would personally love to sample an outdoor in this country but I don't want to spend £300 or be beaten by an agro chav.           difficile est non saturam scribere

its difficult - i agree with hamish - engalnd is the most expensive place to hold a festival - the red tape here for licenses is fukin ridiculous, totally understand why people goto europe - i do it myself, but its nice for me to only have to drive for two hours to get to it i dont think there making any money what soever - but agree with dan - take everything else out except the psy-trance - we might well find its still expensive european standards but what can u do

The reason that there are nine stages (and therefore the high ticket price) is that it's a dance music festival with 2 Psy-trance stages, not just a weekend long Trance party.
If it was just two stages of trance, i don't believe they could ever hope to get a licence.
So you have a choice between doing it the current way, or booking dozens of international trance artists to play at an unlicensed event, which by it's nature may never take place.

100quids on the ticket equals the cost of the event innit ... ripoff ??? eeeeerrr wake up ur in england.. for sure there are cheaper events in europe and equally they represent the price of putting on the event ...
excellent event if u ask me ... im speaking from both sides of the fence...
maybe the moaners should try putting a budget together for such an event - you would struggle!.... much the same as the glade organisers would struggle to write pre-reports of rip-off festivals that they have no idea about

nice to hear other peoples views on this matter.

well what can i say ,i am still going to buy 2 tickets for this years festival ,so the people at glade must be doing somthing right.

i still think £100 is a little steep but at the end of the day i have had a really great time there in the past.
i think what got up my nose was just the little thing really like having to pay for a program ect and the extra booking fee for campers when you have allready paid for the booking of your tickets.

hopefully the extra money this year will goto making it better than last year.

well thats me all moaned out...lol

no more negative talk

lets all get ready for hopfully the best party the uk will see this year

hope to see you all there with happy smily faces

peace

Errr, there are cheaper festivals in the UK. Look at Shamania or Sacred Bull or Sunrise. 3 days long (well 5 for Sunrise!!), gonna be superb fun and coming in a long way under £100 a ticket!!!

I firmly beleive a large reason for the high ticket price is down to the huge number of areas for the number of people there. All the costs big bucks, especially in the UK.

So in answering the original q, no I don't think it's a rip off for what it is. It's just not what I want to spend my money on...

I've been to Glade, had my fun but the music has never done it for me so I'm off elsewhere this yr
