The easiest way of doing this would be to take on corporate sponsorship. Not sure about my views on this,as corporations will only sponsor an event based on the advertising it generates for them.

Virgin Glade Festival anyone?

Off course, something like a good sales pitch to the BIG BOYS....

You wanna sponsor a festival that is attended by 20-45 year olds you choose a brand thats is looking for a good propaganda in that age gap something as you said virgin or something else, but then the "hippies" would say nah i dont wanna go..... But still antiworld happens and its full very often... and in brasil is very common for parties to be associated with coca-cola and others

the first event must have been the best, I missed hense missed the glade. I dont think it will survive, they are trying to appeal to too many which can only dilute the atmosphere.           earth may be the last inhabitated planet for several solar systems

hmmmmmmmmmm

100 pounds- as ppl have said it's england.

Why don't people just put padlocks on their tents????

in terms of glade turn up the f $£%$£ king music, play it all night, get some night time artists (kindzaza, penta, azax) for the night, turn down that drum and bass, a view of something would be nice, more space to enjoy the country and some drapes would be nice.

And again padlocks- how is more money going to help

????????

some people like drum'n'bass...and having other different types of music to have it to...i think it's wicked personally, if it weren't for glade some of us might never get to see some of the artists who play as when it comes to going out on the weekend we, well i at least, tend to only go to trance parties...glade works well cos if you want just trance then you're spoiled for choice but if you can be arsed to explore you might just discover other genres of music that you were not previously privy to...at least on massive soundsystems...like richie hawtin last year...incredible, but i never would have listened to his music outside before that event...either live or on CD...people who complain about too many stages catering for too many tastes should stop being so narrow minded when it comes to music, especially if they, as most of us tranceheads do, consider themselves to be part of some enlightened "openminded" minority...it really seems like tranceheads are actually musical fascists...as for "night" music...by god i am glad ans and co. have avoided this pap...the trance scene existed quite well for a number of years without "killer night time unreleased blah blah god this bores and slightly irritates me" style trance...i say hooray for melody and funk...

looking at the prices for other festivals in the UK of similar duration I'd say that the price is kinda fair....take the www.thegreenmanfestival.co.uk for example - three day festival, only three stages with a line up ive never heard of before ....£98.
To be fair the Glade Festival is a great showcase of electronic music, its not thrown together in three days ...it takes many, many hours of work from the organisers to put this on and if they walk away with a few quid then fairplay to them. If i was organising a similar event Id want to be paid for it too!
Besides, i would say all the above ....my act is playing there. going to see us play is worth the asking price alone. ehehe hehe hhe

Nik, this is not very 'trance' of you.

You should be doing it for the love (then get paid by the taxpayers.....maybe with a little extra from dealing on the side)

Well done on getting the booking, i've never seen you play, but look forward to it.          www.BarakaRecords.com/brij.htm

If i was living in another country in europe I wld definitely come all the way and pay the ticket price, now because its happening in my 'back garden' i'd rather get out of england for the summer.

After a harsh winter and the same daily routine i deserve a break and not only enjoy some good music but also enjoy different cultures and make some new friends.

Never been to glade, only heard good things about it, ticket price sounds fair for england we all know how hard and expensive it is to put on a big legal outdoor event in this country.

I think the diversity of the Glade is one of the great things about it - I tend to get a bit bored of trance (or any sort of music) 24 hours a day for 5 days - which is what you get at the european festivals. I must admit my fave few hours of dancing last year was on the friday night in the pussy parlour lounge - trollied & dancing to old cheesy disco tunes.. brilliant... Some how I cannot see that happening at Boom...

It goes without saying as well that the price is pretty reasonable for a major festival - how much do you spend on a big night out? Does any other form of music moan about the price of stuff (apart from dr*gs) as much as psy trancers??

really glad people started mentioning the variety of the music on offer - it's more than a trance festival. I love seeing lots of different 'sorts' of people get together, usually works out quite well I've found.

ive read most of this thread from start to finish and heard first hand nany vairing facts as to last year ie security, line up etc. Some are good some are bad any festival you go to is what you make of it.£100 is steep but at around 1ok and the rest for each stage minimum + everything else + the silly prices the named djs want it all adds up.Believe me the named djs dont do it for love they tell you they do but they want ££££££££££ and lots of it.so £100 for your ticket + £100 to spend at a comercial festy isnt bad.

there are alternatives out there with different ideas and philosophys friendlier not money orientated more along the line of let the people put it on for the people attitude.

why not support these new young gatherings for a change instead of treading the same path as last year.Sheep walk the same paths try somthing new if your not happy.

Time moves on things change the glade is 3 years old it hasnt got the 1st year vibe anymore but its still a great festy

choose your path if you dont like the price dont go

bingo21 dude ... trying to promote another festival by bitching about one is really a bad attitute man ... why not allow the people to make up their own minds based on the merit of each ..

its a great thing that there is more to offer this year .. and for sure im sure all of the festies will get the numbers they require ... but dont be so quick to judge a festival .. esp when it hasnt happened yet, cos commenting on glade vibe for year 3 when the people havent even got thru the door ??!! hmmm .
...

to say this or that festival will be more friendlier when it hasnt even happened yet is a bit weak ...

try promoting a festie of it`s own merit rather than on what u assume it`s competition has not got ..

xx

peace n love and warmth in wotever field u are in !

Well obviously if the Glade spent less money on acts they could do it cheaper - but I'm not clear how you could have a cheaper infra structure without going down the line of corporate sponsorship??

And as for doing it for free & making the cash from booze - well plenty of free parties do that every weekend - but I think licensing *might* just have words to say if you have a big festival doing that...
