Errr, there are cheaper festivals in the UK. Look at Shamania or Sacred Bull or Sunrise. 3 days long (well 5 for Sunrise!!), gonna be superb fun and coming in a long way under £100 a ticket!!!

I firmly beleive a large reason for the high ticket price is down to the huge number of areas for the number of people there. All the costs big bucks, especially in the UK.

So in answering the original q, no I don't think it's a rip off for what it is. It's just not what I want to spend my money on...

I've been to Glade, had my fun but the music has never done it for me so I'm off elsewhere this yr

I dunno, it takes 3 years to get a gig on the main stage and when I do all my local peeps tell me they're not coming...           Mastering - http://mastering.OOOD.net :: www.is.gd/mastering

GLADE IS FUCKIN AWESOME!!!!!

'moan moan moan moan moan'
....moan when there is nothing, then moan when someone gets off there ass and makes a unbelivibly chilled out festival with an awesome party atmosphere!

£100 is fuck all! its nearly £20 to get in a club in london for a few hours of 1 genre of music! if u dont like it keep ur £100 and spend it on penny sweets or somthing u think is more up ur street, maybe a new toy for ur prams.

ho ho ho

Loves it all the way!

Quite frankly even if the promotors did make a bit of money (which I genuinely believe isn't the case) I'd be more than prepared to pay the price of a ticket.

I know what a wonderful time I had the previous two years. The fact that a group of dedicated preople have actually got off their arses and made this monumentally fantastic event makes me feel they should be credited justly in any way possible (financially if nessasary).

If it means I have to work for a few more hours to pay for it, then so be it, its the least I can do.

I really just think of it as a 5 day holiday. in expenditure terms that makes it on a par with Butlins or short break in Devon (afternoon scones not included).

i think the scale and production size is donw to the individual organisation, however from experience i can firmly see the production at Glade to be quality from the music areas to the pro stewarding and welfare... as for sunrise i cannot judge although they Are using a photo of the Glade Festival on their promotional material... why i dont know !

I have been told by One Who Knows that the break-even point for this festival is every ticket sold.

Sure a cheaper festival is possible... however I think they have their sights set just a little higher than that, don't you?           Mastering - http://mastering.OOOD.net :: www.is.gd/mastering

1st Post!!!!!!! Hello

Britain is a Rip Off full stop.

At 1st £100 does seem expensive - but I think it is not a harsh price to ask.

It's all relative - £20 seems standard for a night out in the UK. At a festival a lot of work is involved - most of it unpaid. Looking at the production value of last year I think £80 was not a bad price to experiance that. Nothing is free.

You could be flipant and say it doesn't need to be as big as it was - but then it wouldn't have been glade.

I was lucky last year and volunteered in the litter pick so I got my money back [3 days later ] IMO it was the cleanest festival possible - considering _some_ lack of respect I experianced from _some_ ppl.

Stewerding was donated by Oxfam and was 1st class.

ID Spiral spent _INSERT STUPID AMOUNT OF HOURS HERE_ hours on preparation to create a palace on for 3 days [we camped next to them ]

Rigs were crystal clear [okay not so loud after 10pm ]

6 more stages........dreadzone..gaudi....etc....

The only real negative issue I experianced was the taking food and drink off people. When we entered thorugh the crew entrance we had no search whatsoever but it was warned not to take beer and I heard many stories with stuff being taken off. This is not a good sign and for the non-commerical spiel we get - we are forced into _buying_ from the specified companies. ?!?!? Is this a license issue?

It was..belter

Same can be said about japan too. But if you think about the wages in the UK, britain isn't a rip off...if you live/work in the UK that is.

Colin at the moment I'm doing a BA in event management and believe me they can get it cheaper, if they are not that greedy, the thing is that if you wanna do real money don't do a psy thing, do something more mainstream or just do it for free and get the money from the booze (dragon festival/teknival)
Psy is good when you do festivals in Brasil, Portugal or Spain. Taxes and licences are almost less than 40 % than here, the biggest cut goes to the Gov and the Copyright dudes... Here is very difficult do reach proper profit numbers.....           Visit me
