so, i totally love ektoplazm with my heart and soul, and i worship you for putting it together.

but does anyone think that it may lead to djs playin the same albums at parties? i know i get most of my stuff from ekto......

If so there is a high chance they will play some good stuff! Its just mind blowing the music that get released on Ektoplazm! I love Ektoplazm

Play Some EvsY, SubCounsciousMind, ParaOm, Psychoholic, Solar FX, Vox, Sorrowmurk.. Man the list can go on and on, i bet we can feed a lot of dancefloors and what if same track gets played twice, as long as its good and most wont even notice lol

my dj sets these days are pretty much contained of ektoplazm releases..
especially on the aussie style music is the best place for gems..

+ releases on other styles like solar fx in the melodic fullon domain gives a fresh air in the fullon scene that is dominated by the same sound the last 5 years!           http://www.landmark-recordings.com/

Couldn't agree more. It's great thing to see that free music scene (promoted and distributed through Ektoplazm) slowly improve it's quality. Net-labels now paying more attention (besides music) to other details like proper mastering, cover artworks, promotion and that ''package'' comes in free format, and people and fans of psychedelic trance recognize that input.           http://www.neogoa.net

Now we just need the organizers to recognize that music released for free is not bad quality music and that you are not instantly the new Mozart with an unique sound just because you release on CD and on a well-known label.

But I think it's a long shot           www.beatagency.dk

They kinda do. We played the Swiss Earthdance, Germany and Holland before we got on Neurobiotic and Etnicanet (our debut release with Etnicanet next month).
Obviously getting picked up by Neurobiotic landed us our first big festival this summer, but you'd be surprised how many people that put on parties, get their tunes and pick acts from Ektoplazm.
Even the "big" names play tunes that got released on Ektoplazm...
Here's Etnica playing Ektoplazm released, music;

It baffles me as well, not because of your releases on Ektoplazm, which I think are proper big dancefloor material, but because you are Elysium and one half of Sheyba...which were THE acts in the '90s.

Peace out.

Mate not even Greece where my music was no. 1 on commercial TV and Radio stations seem to book me but book other old-school artists. I am probably "persona non grata" because i dared to speak my mind in this scene and criticize the organizers (Its a no go for artists i guess). The Greek organizers all want to be "friends" on facebook where after they spam me with their events but never contact me

Today's organizers focus on a small group of artists. I guess this is where the problem is found.
When it come to old-school they book the same names over and over again (Astral, Hallucinogen, GNOTR, Max from Etnica etc.). They focus on the high energy melodic Goatrance (just as they book the neogoa - god i dislike this name - high energy frenzy melodic artists) and reject/ignore other genres within the goatrance old-school circuit.

My only gig this summer was at a big tribal festival in southern france. But it seem to be canceled due to the authorities not allowing the festival to be held in a certain location (they got the permission but it was withdrawn)... Just my luck he he

Ektoplazm is undoubtedly doing an outstanding job. I think the concept of free music is definitely here to stay, and Ektoplazm is established as a really strong brand - bigger than many labels distributing their music through the regular channels on CD.

Not all the music fits my taste, but the same applies for commercial releases as well. But I definitely see that there's some quality stuff to be found.

Big ups for Basilisk for having the vision to make this happen. People like him really make a positive difference in this scene.

...

Now concerning Kristians bookings. If I remember correctly you've quitted the scene for many years for your house-projects - apart from hanging out here and on Psynews

To be honest, I don't think you can directly compare yourself to guys like Etnica, GNOTR, Hallucinogen and Astral Projection. I mean, these guys have constantly been on top of the game in the psychedelic trance scene over the years. Playing at parties and adopting their sound to what was popular at the time throughout the years - either in those projects or in other projects. And I'm NOT talking about musical quality here. If they make better music than you is totally subjective.

My point is; They were always "here" in some way. Both at the parties and on releases. People tend to forget, and let's face it; there's a big replacement in the people in this scene. People who attend the parties for a few years, have some fun and do some drugs, but initially finds something else to do with their life. If you aren't "here", less and less people will know who you are.

Apart from the old crowd, how many percent of the current scene do you think would remember guys like Doof, Orichalcum or Ubar Tmar if the suddenly started releasing psytrance again? I even think that more recent big projects like Noma, Tripiatrik, Quirk, 12 Moons and Paps wouldn't ring a bell to many people. And the list goes on.

Complaining doesn't help you at all. Keep making music and putting it out there, and I'm sure you'll get more bookings in the future.          DJ pr0fane (Iboga Records) | Multiphase
