Lately , i have not been getting so much new music for a while and feel eager to hook up my ears with some new ,good and fresh music.

Have loads and loads of older stuff and also uses youtube alot when checking out new music ( although it is a bit sad that the sound quality dont get so sharp on you tube). But new music is always welcome, especially if it is good

I have picked up some talk about "Ektoplazm" ,and i also could see that there was free music there to download.Which i intend to do.

Someone got any recommendations on what to check out on Ektoplazm?

Ektoplazm releases such a great variety of music (especially, if you also consider releases by its sister labels Drumlore and Omnitropic and other labels' free releases it hosts) - you're guaranteed to find something that suits your musical preferences.

"Dreamshadow" and "Swampology" would be a great place to start if you want to get darkpsy. "Evsylocybine" and "Sauce Masculino", if you're into Suomi. "Cycle of Secrets" and "Cipro Status" if you want something in between. If you feel nostalgic, check out “Art from the Heart” Goa compilation or “Alternative Energysource” by Highpersonic Whomen. There is also plenty of good full on (yes, such a thing does exist!) and plenty of music on the border of genres (full on – Suomi, full on – darkpsy, Suomi – darkpsy etc), like “Galactic Synthetic” or “Morphing Psyche”. Plenty of great new-school Goa too! And then there are releases that I can’t even cram into any genre at all, like “Boings and Tickles” and “Uni”. I think they’re both filed under “Suomi”, but that’s only because the authors are Finnish. Very innovative stuff.

Good luck with your explorations.
Since I discovered Ektoplazm, I pretty much quit scanning pirate blogs altogether. Ektoplazm both keeps me busy and provides excellent music - guilt-free. But even then – I just scratched the surface of what that great portal has to offer.

...Oh, I forgot about the whole host of tech trance releases, like Cyberpunk Chronicles (second one is my favorite).

"The Invisible Kingdom" by Ben Rama is nice hypnotizing latter-days techno.

And also there is plenty of music that is great but for one reason or another is not up to Ektoplazm standards: releases in mp3 only or mixes. Like old Suomi releases or Phobium's "Live In Gothenburg" set. They are in "More Music" and "Mixes". Downloading Kino Oko – Live In Saint Petersburg from there as we speak.

Is there any cool progressive stuff going on? (Mind that I did not enjoy etnoscope, and yes I check out drumlore once in a while)

Looking forward to hearing,

Still not sure what "progressive" means, but...
Will this qualify?

Subconccious Mind was another great realese on Ektoplasm.

Also Soul contact Ep and I will recommend highly both ekoplex albums.           "The dedication to repetition — the search for nirvana in a single held tone or an endlessly cycling rhythm — is one of electronic music's noblest gestures."

What's cool is you can go to ektoplazm.com and then click free music - then select "explore" - you can search from there by the progressive tag. Makes it real easy to at least find what has been tagged progressive - and its all free so download it all and discover what you like.
