Ektoplazm is in suspended animation for the indefinite future. My travels have begun and I will not be able to post new music like I have for five years now. I've put my heart and soul (and savings) into Ektoplazm... now it is time for me to figure out how I fit into the big picture. Maybe my dream of redeveloping Ektoplazm into a full-fledged social music marketplace will come true, maybe not. I don't want to make any promises... so for now, please continue to enjoy the 600 free releases already on the site (which will continue to stay online as you see it today) and be sure to make a donation if you're able to (my hosting bill is fixed at about USD$250 per month). I plan to make an "official" announcement on my blog soon enough... it's just hard to find all the right words when so much of the future remains uncertain. In the meantime, treat each other well and stay psychedelic

I think Ektoplazm has done more than what was needed for psytrance to understand the concept of running netlabels. The idea had been around for a while but we still only see a handful of labels in the psy scene with their own websites and hosting. Usually netlabels band together independently but here we were given a free distribution network, fast accessible server space, a great amount of support in terms of formatting/packaging, stats, rating, feedback and a lot more that isn't that visible.
It would not have come this far without but it's time to grow up now Releases can always be blogged about.

This is sad news, new releases on Ektoplazm always excites me, and i am thankful for all the music that i have gotten from the site. Luckily one can still download the music which already is on the page, which is good news.
I guess it is like with everything else, everything changes.Nothing is forever except the change itself. I do hope though that Ektoplazm will continue putting up music later on , in some way or another.
I wish Basilisk good luck and pleasure on his journey .

Thanks... I hope to post a proper announcement of what changes to expect in the near future. I've already started out on my travels (just arrived in Koh Phangan now) and it's been difficult to collect all my thoughts into something that makes sense. There is so much that has been left unsaid... anyhow, I may very well continue the project in some capacity but for now I need to travel and figure things out. I'm also curious to find out how much support I might receive while travelling... on some level I wonder if I am a fool to consider dedicating the next phase of my life to psytrance culture if I can't even get a decent gig here and there while paying my own airfare! This is one reason my travels this year will bring me to Koh Phangan, Goa, and then Europe for summer festival season, all of which I have never experienced before. I need to see this culture up close (I've mostly only experienced it through the Internet thus far) to really know if I should move forward with this rather ambitious plan I've concocted behind the scenes...
In the meantime the site will stay live and the downloads will continue as long as I can pay the bills. It's close to USD$250 per month for just hosting expenses so please feel welcome to drop a tip in the jar.
One other note: as long as I can reach a decent broadband connection in my travels there will probably be a few special releases posted... some projects I've committed to were not quite finished by the time I left for Asia but I still mean to get those online one way or another.
The end is (hopefully) not yet.

Last time I was in Koh Phangan (2003) it was pretty hard to get gigs as most everyone there was a DJ and certainly no paid gigs (apart form free drinks) so good luck on that. Great place to go diving. Hopefully you will get to some other places around there when you get sick of the doof doof. North Sumatera in Indo (take boat from Penang) is one of my favorite places.
