Spook... you just need to HIRE A SECRETARY, DUDE! One person cannot possibly run a record label by themselves, especially with the number of releases that Geo has put out over the last year. Doing all this by yourself... frankly, I'm surprised things haven't gone worse.
It is clear that while delays and problems are an inevitable part of running a label, a lot of the bad feelings that happened could have been avoided if people just got emails returned. People would rather hear bad news than get no response.
When people hear nothing, they assume the worst, and 'dogpile' threads like this are an inevitable result where people are eager to believe every bad thing said about someone. Over the past year I've explained to many skeptical people that you live in the same basement, use the same animation studio computers that you've had since before the label started, drive the same shitty 1987 Toyota with the door smashed in... that you are not driving around in a BMW or something paid for with artists money...
I've gotten paid for my Geo V/A compilation releases, but there has always been a delay... if I wasn't able to talk to you in person about it at parties I probably would have been just as pissed as a lot of people in this thread. It was good to hear that the Shapestatic guys finally got paid for the tracks they released, but I assume if there had been better communication with them, they might have stuck with Geo for their album release.
I'm sad to say this lack of communication is not just from Geomagnetic... several other labels I've talked to this year are very communicative when they want something from me, but then when I have a question... silence. It shouldn't be this way in the era of email.
In conclusion, everyone reading this should go buy my album.

Dr.Spook its Really a shame that only now with this kind of pressure , you come out and explain your situation , it would me much easier to send an email to all this people and keep this subject in closed doors , most of us are patient , because nowadays psytrance is all about being patient and persistent! So im waiting for my answers , and since you had time for such elaborated post u will get time for simple email for me and for all this people , i rest my case and i hope not to wait one or two more weeks for any development and conclusions.

I guess we will see what happens...if no one gets payed after 4 months we should just continue this thread =) but right now im tripping my balls off reading all this text....i feel like the walls are closing down on me and all i can feel is my screen.......ahh im goint to sleep,wake me up when you got the cash =)

ok...
1st i want to say that Dr Spook is a thif.
he relised not 1 , not 2 , but 3 track's that my name is on them whitout my signature on any papaer (contract). (on the israeli SPAZZZ colection)
after sending him allot of E-Mail's whitout no anser
i dicided to take this mather to my lowyer... that told me to send him an E-Mail that discribe my intention to soo him.
the day after he wanted to settle whit me the payment , the problem was that he wanted to send me CD's and somethink like 125$ for this 3 track's.
he sended me some CD's and dident send any money... therfore ppl... the best way is to take this "dude" to an american cort of law (americans just love to soo).
the best TIP i can give you ppl that he has "nail'd"... "Get an AMERICAN lowyer" that's what i did.

I would like to know how many of you nobody's would ever be heard of ,not only are you heard of now but you are well promoted . not just by Spook, but by dj's such as myself who play with this sort of music and effort ,im sorry ALL your efforts are for some evil green cabbage, was this the intentions of the music to begin with? ( Im quite sure not ). and c,mon gosse quit being such a hypocrite, i personally wouldnt want to answer yer e-mails either becuz you are quite emotionally unstable a hypersensitive paranoid freak if i may say! i have no problem and i dont care about any of this labels that dont pay for artists that sucks
actually i dont listen to kind of music they "releaseing"
& like i said be4 they should learn like good labels like faerie dragon.. giiwa ... and much more!
p.s: i understand that you edited me Buju but its just im sick of it to see all this shitiy sense going down and down!

what are you talking about ??? most of the ppl that got robd from this thif was well known long before they meet him...
i cant write all the names but i know for a fact that TSABEAT , ELECTRIPNOSE , Scorb , Khopat , Terranoise , Blisargon Demogorgon and more... relised music long time before GEOMAGNETIC records was born. (including me)
so dont tell us to shut it... we have all the write to uprize and gather against him

everyone exept for Khophat and Energy Loop shut it!!!!! hehehe actually i know for sure these ethics are not good business ethics no doubt so sorry for saying that . i wasnt trying to make stupid arguments , i agree that a deal is a deal and it isnt right to take advantage of young new artists like this.............. this shit i say mostly goes to the one who started this thread , and those who really under appreciate the efforts of spook or anyone involved in this label .DUDE you should see what he drives and what he eats F***ING , CRAP he isnt getting rich off noone he definately is not it is costing him for sure NOW big time, all I will say now is SPOOK email all your clients tell them something be upfront and honest from the beginning dont make stupid promices, these are psychedelic artists who UNDERSTAND the bullshit if you are upfront like AEON SAID no news is bad people think the worst ,and for the ones who need to be payed for there trax try sending him a new email stating what you think he owes you for the tracks he used . IM sure the amount is terribly high and hard to imagine paying but if you do 1 at a time b4 you know it it will all be payed and everyone will be happy again i apologize for telling peeps to shut it

my experience with spook ended good.
didn't have to cry to get cash ... i made him a generous deal to support his "over active" label ... yeah, sometimes waited long to get a reply but was still ok.
it seems that i had a special treatment.
sorry for all the artists who got troubles, it happens too much that you have to run behind the promised money.
i don't blame anyone here...
indeed, i would just recommend to spook to be closer to the artists... i'm sure each artist would be ready to help for the hard things you manage, agree to wait some more than specified on the contact.. if you talk to them.
... definitely there is nothing more disapointing for artists than having to run after the people who request/use/sell... their work. |

As a label Artists, and friend of spooks its pretty crazy to hear that some people out there think all of his effort to get peoples music out and make a difference in this global scene was to profit his own pocket book. As best i can tell, spook is not profiting from this endeavor. In fact, the label is very draining, especially given the long list of bad or messed up "business deals" that have been engaged in thus far.
I do however feel the pain of the artists out there.. I've Released 4 Tracks and My first Full length album (coming out very soon) with Spook. I hope to see some $ for my effort some day but havn't thus far. BUT thats not why i made this music in the first place. Last time i checked, there aren't any millionaire Trance Artists out there. In fact it seems the whole scene (for the most part) is just barley making it on shoe string budget. So what can we all do colectively to make this better? For starters, act like professionals (This applies to everyone including me).
Spook, Please dude.. The Main Message of learning here in this whole thread is: IF YOUR GOING TO RUN A LABEL, YOU NEED TO FOCUS ON THE BUSINESS END more than anything. i.e. COMMUNICATION, promotion, & collections and delivery. If people owe you money so you can pay the people who you owe money, then gosh darn it, go after them big time. This is your first and foremost responsibility as the label manager.
Please, get caught up on the promises of videos, cash, and promotion to all the artists. It would make a big difference to everyone involved if they saw more activity on your part to make things right. Actions Speak louder than words.

nonsense... if that was his "GOAL" he shoold have say so from the bigining and not promis stuf he cant stand up for and lie and dodge our E-Mail's
most of the artist's have contract's and deal's whit him... from me he just steel the music and sell it all over and using my name and my freands name to promote himself and make money on hard working ppl.
and we are not want to be milioners... we just want a lable to stik to his word and be onest.
