That's not what I understood from Lawrence himself, to who I spoke last night And I thought that also Ross mentioned moving out last time we spoke, but maybe I'm mistaken....maybe plans changed, so I let's forget I mentioned that and focus on the real issue again....Spook being dishonest and abusing the trust of good people !

Thanks for the spotlight brother,
For your compilation your former partner/investor (who you fired after he paid for your comp) was paid every penny owed that the comp made to this point.
In fact you did recieve ALL the sales reports (I have it in an email that went to you with a time stamp).
About where the money is for artists?
Lets look at who owes what...
Setting the way back machine I clearly recall you strongly recommending I do business with MARS from Acidance. You convinced me and chromatone to work with him saying he was your bro/partner etc. We sent him a bunch of cds that he requested and then screwed us on them. He owes to this day over $1250 in shipping costs alone (thanks for the recommendation Gossee!)
Then you recommended I work with Thomas from Psytropic... great idea! wow. He has 1000's of our cds in his where house and is sitting on them for over a year and wont send them back. (He also put me in debt over $5000 with my factory but thats another story!!!)
So basically even after you were paid for your comp... I went into several large debts because of your recommendation. I guess you were right... Karma works perfect. No good deed goes un punished.
But it was my fault for trusting you. So the responsibility lies on my shoulders.

Geomagnetic has made many deals with new artists... promoting the heck out of them, Spreading the word on new music and styles to places that would never hear it. I owe about 50% of the tracks that we have released. And bit by bit I will pay the other 50%. I dont have a "JOB" but I do make some $ occasionally doing gigs etc. But for the music industry... Be aware... It doesnt pay for itself!!! I thought it could, but only if you support generic big name artists do labels make money.
So I guess I fucked up...
I chose to support unknown artists and give them a chance... but if you are all pissed at me for trying then what can be done. I have never promised anything that I would not eventually pay on.
If ANY ONE bothered to read the agreement... the contracts says USUALLY pay with in 90 days of release date. Well... that is exactly what I promised... MAYBE I would have the money in time... well about 30% of the time I did (self funded 80% of the releases as they didnt even cover there own costs...)
So what can I say? I am trying my best. Geomagnetic has accomplished alot in a short time and with the help and love of the artists that are on the label.
Any one who thinks that its all roses and perfume should get a new reality and realize we are all independent folks working together to create something new.
If I had to do this with all investment $ I wouldnt have been able to do this at all. So my investors are the artists and they get paid when there is $. If there is no $ than they have to wait... Cant squeeze water(or blood) from a rock can you?
so... be patient. Your $ is coming.
If you would rather it all end and I give up Geomagnetic so you are all satisfied that the music industry doesnt work then keep throwing rocks you guys... great work!!!

So you promised the artists a payment 3 months after the release and added MAYBE in the contract without anyone noticing. Where's the love and help to unknown artists?....oh, and ETHICS.
Anyway, WE didn't sign that stupid contract and still haven't seen a penny. So it really doesn't matter what the contract says, Mr Spook, since you've decided not to pay to anyone that is far away from you and cannot reach you.
And the most annoying thing, is that you'll probably wait a few years till some of the artists will be famous and, lucky you, they gave you the tracks' rights.So now you can sell the much valued tracks or the whole label to the highest bidder.
But the wheel always turns.........
Well, for 1 thing we thank you. You taught us to be strict with payment arrangements etc.

All i have to say is this, Dr. Spook, you mentioned that artists are the investors in the label, does that mean they own 'x' percentage of the label? As an investor they are bound to have 'x' percentage, that 'x' percentage as your INVESTORS have a right to take 'y' amount of TOTAL SALES equally among the label partners....so that said they can take you out of a label....sorta like how a BUSINESS WORKS...

Do you think that this people would do such a topic and talk like this if you had care to reply to all this people in the correct time? Man honestly i dont believe your bullshit anymore , and im really sad that you used many people to get tracks , like the delysid boys and dj troyan in my case , they have to keep hearing people complaning because of your unprofessional atitude! And i really hate this lame excuse of promoting new artists , if u deal money , pay money , dont come and make yourself look like a really nice guy because ur making promotion for newcommers bla bla bla ... i work with many new labels , that have tight budgets , and still they make everything right so they dont fail with no one , and that's the way to get big and to get people wanting to work with you , not like this!

why do people open label business if they havent the $ to invest on material upfront?
Everybody knows this is small scene and its hard to make profit out of it,so people must think twice before opening a label.
Everybody wants a piece of it,fair enough,but is this wise?
@ spook:
when releases dont cover their expenses,u must ask yourself one question: should i do it again?...better close business before i go all the way down.
Releasing new artists,give them a chance...sure its ok,but knowing they wont sell much because they are new and will not cover expenses,why u still go and release it,promising them the pay up when u know it cant be done.
@ new artists,and i am one of them:
keep spreading ur music,freely,on the net,with ur friends,with ur friends friends,in your website,in partys...be patient,there will come a time when serious labels will come to you,that means u have earned the respect of the audience,and u are ready to release.
I maybe look stupid with all this bla bla bla,but still is my opinion,and thats the way ive been working so far,and i must tell ya that things are working perfectly,at least no one owes me money.

Hi there-
This will be my final post on this subject.
Things are tough. I intend to pay all those who have been promised $. The money will come when I have earned it via the label or via doing other forms of work. When I have it I share it. When I dont I do my best to explain why to those who care to listen. My agreements that are late I am sorry and I am doing all in my power to fulfill on what has been promised.
Here is my pledge.
I humbly request from ALL the artists who I have agreements with to be patient. I know it is hard and I am in the same boat as many of you. Help keep the positive vibe flowing and I will continue to do my best to keep $ flowing to those who have it coming. Your support and patience and generosity will be rewarded. I believe in Karma and in all things coming to those who deserve it. I sincerely believe that this is much more productive than throwing stones on some one when they are down.

In defense to all that I have read I have a few explanations that may help clear things up.
1. Spooks studio - 90% of the gear that I have is stuff I have owned since before doing the "label". When not doing the label I had alot more lucrative life. So Gosse explaining my "rack" of ebay discounts and re-furb dj gear from 2002 and saying I must have spent a mint of "artists cash is just Bull^*&%^)&. I buy refurb gear from Cost-Co and return it if its too slow. My other 4 computers are inherited gear that you can find on the street for free in San Francisco (still works =).
2. The label is a 100% costly venture that I have self funded and received the generous support of the artists to keep going this far. I know that getting over the hump of a new business is not always easy but I know also that if we keep a positive outlook and keep the good momentum going that is existing it will be alot easier to pay all the folks who have put in there help.
3. 90% of the artists I work with are relatively new and generally unknown artists. I promise each and every one that I will do my best to promote them with the release. Many I have released their 1st tracks when no one else would touch them. I freely admit that I have not lived up to my part of the deal in getting people paid. That sucks and I am truly sorry. I hope that despite all the frustration over cash that you see some benefit from my efforts to introduce you and your work to the global market.
4. The future- I understand how many of you must feel. I would (and do) feel similar as many labels, artists and distributors owe me substantial amounts of money (nearly enough to pay everyone that is owed!). With that in mind I pledge to collect on what is owed me as well so that it can be disbursed to those it is owed to.
5. Some accounting...
Though this officially doesn’t matter as I should be able to cover the labels debts even if the releases didnt break even I have some basic realities I am facing... My biggest gig to date (Elton’s visuals) I have been ripped off by the producer... (some will laugh and say I got what was coming and the wise will realize that a major set back like that is what is keeping Spook from covering his bills)...
Millenium/YSE still has not paid ANY of the tracks that they owe geomagnetic and thus to folks who are owed for contributions.
For my comps some of them such as Troyan’s comp we agreed that he would make 3 release parties to cover his compilations costs if I gave him 1000 copies. He was supposed to send them to the artists and sell the cds in Mexico to cover the artist fees. That never happened and he vanished as soon as he got the 1000 cds.
So I could give you a huge list of hard luck stories and match it with a huge list of Good luck stories too. I spend ALL OF MY TIME and energy on the label. I have a network of devoted helpers who are amazing and we all are doing a huge amount of work to make the label and with it all who are involved, prosper. That is not an easy task but we are resolute in making it happen.
So ::: Buck up... You will all get paid as soon as humanly possible. Till then I will do my best to email you all with as much info as I have. Also I am open to trades in CD stock and other work/trades so that you don’t feel "RIPPED OFF". I will make it up to you. No one has had anything Stolen. If money had been made it might be one thing but for every track that has been provided I have matched that investment x10 in Time, Money, Promotion and full power dedication. I will not make any more promises for $ on a certain date if I can't deliver. For all the artist ablums we agreed that profits would be split evenly with the artist and label after all production and promotion costs are covered.
I am not offended by your honest feelings. I appreciate the clear and real criticism. I believe that lifes experiences are only mistakes if they are not learned from. I endeavor to make it good to all that are involved and to garner the wisdom this experience has taught me.
IF you are satisfied that I honestly am and will continue to do my best to live up to the trust and love that has been given then know that I will deliver.

i do still like the idea of geomagnetic..
