have you ever been to a party where dj are playing different format, like one is playing vinyl another cd, a live in between, another dat etc....
I have been to this kind of parties and even played in some of them (always dat!)..did you never notice the changing in the sound and in the vibe !!!!
try to imagine in which order you would like to hear them, ex:
1 dj on dat
2 live set
3 dj on cd
4 dj on vinyl
5 dj on mp3

....in this order you can imagine the quality of sound going from skies to under hell !!!
I even saw a dj destroying a speaker with vinyl after me and another having played on dat all the night !!!

leave the vinyl to teck djs that needs this format to really mix tracks and just use 2 minutes of each tracks to focus on themselves and their "talent" !!!
in goa the important is the quality of the track and the quality of the sound, not the ability of mr shaman to "make 2 a third track with 2 basal, which, by the way is really the most commun cliche answer that they all give to justify their job !!!
I have respect for mike maguire, dino psaras, serge souque, joti sidhu (as dj), tsuyoshi, cosmix, antaro, etc... the job of dj is a thing, the one of composer is another, but at the end the thing is created by composer, not djs.
djs are , in best cases, good illusive "representant" of labels or projects, but the main thing still is the track, not the dj or its "technic"...if you look for technic go listen to rap !

ayna, I can't agree with you.
Maybe in Goa the qualitiy o fthe track is the only thing, but in some other parts of the world people like to hear good mixing along the quality of track.

And of course if you mix Dino Psaras and Jothi's tracks for 4 minutes you'll get a noise and none of the tracks will be heard properly, but there are other styles represented by djs on this forum that actually sound good (or even better) in a long mix.

It's all a matter of personal taste, nothing else.

You see a dj as a "track player", while I see him as a creative figure.
NHF, we obviously disagree on this one.

And i am with Shuma..

why not give the dj a chance to be creative?? i mean, how many times have you gone to partys and hear the same track played in the same night?? or even, the same tracks on different nights.. im sure the crowd sometimes want something a little different, hence where the DJ come's in...

I do agree with Anja, that most dj's only represent productions or labels.. but that doesn't make them a better Dj...

depends on how you want to look at things in the end..           "VA - REWIRED" OUT NOW !! (techtrance invasion) ---> http://forum.isratrance.com/viewtopic.php/topic/86303/forum/9
