hello mr. dj fuck...

please don`t forget "deep" is still a feeling. It means this feeling touchs your soul and your heart!!! I never got touched my soul when I listen to your examples. But maybe it happens to you... There is a long distance between your heart and your brain. Lets call your examples as deep brain music... thats all!

Music can be for both the heart and the mind and even for the feet at the same time. Your view of what you look at as 'deep' is based on personal priorities, not on some objective fact. This debate is purely philosophical, there's no 'right' side here. There's deep music in which the barrier between the mind and the heart is suddenly not that clear at all (Twerk's Now I'm Rendered Useless for instance, one of my favorite microhouse albums, and just to annoy Zombi, Hallucinogen's Spiritual Antiseptic)... I feel that a lot of 'deep' music tries to be deep only on one level while ignoring the others. And some music which doesn't try to be deep but just do what it does ends up being much deeper than most other things.

Koxbox - Geomancer, that track is emotional, cerebral, groovy as hell and instead of being 'cliche' deep, it's all good fun, too.

just a few examples of my idea of deeeeep from house, prog trance, psy trance, and ambient:

Anthony+Pappa: "The Rhythm". This track is a never-ending monster from the deep. It starts to crawl into my head, then plunges under my skin, and then it takes me over!! This is deep music. Heavy stuff for the heart, the body, and the mind.

Space Safari rmx, "The Summer is Old". These simple melancholic patterns can hit so hard. For me deep feelings are usually touched by the sadness of departure, or impermanence.

Old Koxbox (Dragon Tales/Forever After): Holy shit that music was deep. Much more mental "let's tangle and then untangle your brain" than emotional, but this would get me in a serious way.

Aes Dana: Goes for the heart and mind. Beautiful musical structures to induce happiness and sadness, and intricate textures to tickle the ears and mind.

on the same note, also check out Lounge Controll.
