Let's say you were not aware of it.

For all of the people that know their area around the international club trends - the 'wave your hands in the air' type of clubtrance evolved into a much less shallow form of music which was dubbed 'deep trance' and was played in clubs around summer 2000-2001, before the prog-house wave totally took over (this trend started a year before and ended a year later in a smaller scale than it's peak). Never really liked that music, just seemed so shallow when compared to Son Kite, Vibrasphere and Shiva Chandra. 'Deep' is a relative word.           http://www.myspace.com/Hooloovoo222

you guys are missing the master of the genre!!

Oliver Lieb

check out his albums as LSG. you'll find that you stop whatever you're doing and lose yourself in the music.

especially the latest LSG album, The Hive. goddamn, is it cool. it's kinda progressive tech/trance with amazing bass. it's also "mixed", so the entire 70+ minutes flow together into one huge track.

NO ONE is on the same level for this type of music. Lieb is one of (maybe THE) most talented producer in trance.

he also has some DJ mixes out, but i can't say whether they have the same style as his LSG projects.

oh, and i would add that i consider Infected to also put out very deep music. i took WAV files from my BPE disc, inserted "Roll Us A Giant" before "Dancing With Kadafi", and burned the REAL version of BPE listening to that album gets your mind running in overtime!

yeah the guy is right deep trance is a pretty dead style , same goes for the progressive house , the scene moved to more softand groovy stuff more housy and less dark , about the clubs scene ofcourse , deep trance started at 94/5 when Sasha and digweed were playing that , they both moved to progressive house till today but still this style going down aswell and im pretty sad because good stuff were around real dark and pumping stuff , scene is more commercial now...           I'm The Superviz'a Can I Get The Taxi Numbah?!

Oliver Lieb definately is the Simon Posford (or Richie Hawtin, or Richard D. James, or whatever) of his genre, and makes wonderful music. Of course, it's a totally different thing from psytrance, and doesn't really work well with it (for all of the people that didn't hear how horrible the Oliver Lieb remix of Hallucinogen - LSD is from both a deep trance and a psytrance perspective is, well, trust me on this one, it's probably Oliver Lieb's worst work). There were times when the border between deep trance and psytrance was much less clear (Datura - Eternity, such a wonderful track, and even we had the Trance Side of the Moon compilations in Israel which contained psytrance, clubtrance and deep trance all in one mish-mash)... but deep trance in it's current incarnation is not something to be compared to psytrance, the genres are too far apart for that now (and have been so for well over 6-7 years).

yeah, ignore that Lieb rmx of "LSD".

he has been making great music since the early 90s, including ambient, trance, techno, acid, and experimental.

his DP-SOL live CDs are pretty nice... ever-changing 303 lines over downtempo beats. there are two CDs available, but they're hard to find.

if you like bass, listen to his last LSG album The Hive.

yes for sure John Digweed plays no psytance. But he belongs to the best Progressive DJ`s in the world. Beside this he is one of the most successfull DJ`s too.

Also Danny Howels and other DJ`s of that genre plays for sure "deep trance".

And btw "Deep Trance" never belongs to the "put your hands in the air" music, it has nothing to do with comercial or euro trance.
Deep Trance exist since the begining of Trance, it is just a feeling not more!

I would also categorise Satoshi Tomiie as one of the top notch DJ's in the progressive deep trance "genre" even though he also like to blend in more deep house and progressive house.

And yes I agree with my name brother with a "C"

Deep house is NOT Euro trance.

Listen to early releases from Eye Q Records, HardHouse, Superstition Records ect. ect. and you'll hear the connection with today's deep trance. It's for sure not Euro trance.
