bought this after reading lot of praise on gearslutz and kvr.. great compressor with a nice expert mode for geaks that give you control on the transfer curve ,feedback and feed forward mode ,peak / rms and between ,sidechain with tilt eq ,clean and 2 type of good saturation that can be driven and way more .. thought i would share , sound is good and at that price

damn this comp can be so fucking smooth, smooth as butter, it really have a hardware feel with how it react and sound with a good depth!
but it s tricky to use. the expert mode need really carrefull adjustement with good understanding / hearing of compression, not really for beginer imo.
so far have a short try i like it but i can t get it really punchy for now on the master...can t get a nice grab a la ssl using the feedback emu in the expert mode ,it always sound smooth... have to try more and try the 4 regular mode (make it like 4 compressor in one) but that smoothness

Will give this one a try when I get a few spare minutes. Will be interesting to compare it to my Chandlers. I bought his VU Meter before I got my Crookwood hardware unit, and it performed better than all the other software VU meters I have tried.

Have you tried that freeware MOLOT comp, and the new Limiter6, from this guy:

I think if one spent some time with the new limiter, it might be able to make things loud and transparent, it has like five different sections for making shit louder.           http://hermetechmastering.com : http://www.discogs.com/artist/Gregg+Janman : http://soundcloud.com/babaluma

i have molot but i totally forgot to try this plug !

the DC8C thought me some time to get familiar with all the control but haven t used it since then..have to try it again but my initial impression it s great comp but not for everyhting like usual..

the 4 comps in easy mode are a bit different that what you can get in complex mode, you can t replicate them totally, it s like 5 comps for 20 euros .

my only complaint with the plug was that it was the attack and release are so smooth that it lack a bit of agressivity that is sometimes needed for me...(but tried it just on one master and was really not familiar with it )

DC8C? it's not free, right?

If you're talking about the free Limiter6, I've already tried it, but only briefly, not enough to get to know it properly.

was talking about DC8C and yeah it s not free.

it remind me some hardware with the way it don't ruin the sound and keep good depth when compressing but the compression can feel slow/lazy , when needed and when it work it s WOW ,i could spend 1500 in a box for that sound but these wow moment didn t happen much yet...i usualy have trouble to make it work lik i want , don t know it enought yet

did you get it ? if you master lot of slow music like ambiant, chill out stuff this comp could probably give you great result on some tunes, still haven t a/b it to anyhting else and hvent used it much but for me it s good one to have into the arsenal as its sound a bit different than other comps i have or tried .

nope, still haven't had a chance to play with it yet. i want to play with MOLOT first as it's free!

to be honest i've never found any software compressor that i would rather use than my chandlers, but there could always be a first time!           http://hermetechmastering.com : http://www.discogs.com/artist/Gregg+Janman : http://soundcloud.com/babaluma

hehe report back after playing with it , be sure to check the manual some stuff are not that intuitive at first.

i still have not tested it deeper but one fo my favorite things in this comp it s the GR smoothing setting be sure to tweak it when in expert mode as it s one of the most important setting in the comp...

the release don't feel like usual plugin comps i m used, it can be a good or bad thing...but that compression behavior and sound contribute to make this comp unic.

the 2 sats are also not bad for mix situation (not amazing but not bad..)maybe a bit thin sounding but still realistic . used lightly with the cumulative effect on a mix it could maybe lead to a good enhancement
