yeah i have read the manual twice already! i'm like that with manuals, always read them hard core before using a device!

looks very deep, but think once you get to know it, it should be very powerful/versatile.

may have a chance to play with it tomorrow, will report back, want to see if i can get it sounding close to my chandlers!           http://hermetechmastering.com : http://www.discogs.com/artist/Gregg+Janman : http://soundcloud.com/babaluma

i bought it ages ago, but finally tried this out on a real project the other day, albeit very briefly, and have to say i was VERY impressed. hands down the best software compressor i have ever heard.

it didn't beat out the chandlers on the final master, but then you wouldn't really expect it to, being orders of magnitude cheaper!

i can see with a bit more study i could find myself using this a lot. definitely amazing value for money.           http://hermetechmastering.com : http://www.discogs.com/artist/Gregg+Janman : http://soundcloud.com/babaluma

i hope he is working on a more agressive one, fet /vca emulation would be great..

yeah, i still need to spend more time with it, especially the "advanced" mode, but what i've heard so far means i will actually spend more time with it, whereas 99% of plugins i try, i just think "meh" and delete them.

i tried to use it in exactly the same way i use my hardware chandlers, and i got very close to the same effect, just very mild/invisible compression, no more than about 1.5dB reduction, but with some kind of a nice "gloss" to the whole sound.

very impressed!           http://hermetechmastering.com : http://www.discogs.com/artist/Gregg+Janman : http://soundcloud.com/babaluma

Which one? Have heard great things about the TC Phoenix ME and the Pendulum Audio OCL-2, but not such great things about many others (TL Audio, Art Pro VLA I/II etc.)

I'd seriously urge you to try DC8C, you could save a LOT of money! Sounded very close to my Chandler Germ Comps (FET) when set up similarly.

the phoenix is more transparent than i thought, its mastering grade, go culture vulture if u want more prononced color to use on synth, drums..
tube compressor may not have the most fun compression action for psy trance mix too..great at warming but to shape envelops or inject punch on a drum bus vca or fet is more suited and it can also color nicely, like api 2500

the phoenix has a few different versions, but yes, it's pretty transparent. the culture vulture is not a compressor but a distortion device. definitely not recommended for mastering (even the mastering version).           http://hermetechmastering.com : http://www.discogs.com/artist/Gregg+Janman : http://soundcloud.com/babaluma

vari mu comps cost a lot and are not the most suited specially as one and only comp imo that why i suggested the culture vulture for tube warmth and color it s great, or vca like distressors or api 2500 to cover most compression needs and still a good color . but the culture vulture is like a color box with his 6 tubes and 4 transformers, tought they don't really have much iron in their sound

love it when unknow developers come out with real quallity plugins like this.. and for not much money.. this one is so fucking close to sound like a hardware box . i a/bed for one hour to my distressor and just WOW like i said earlier in the topic , this plug could sell 1500 in a rack .

can t wait for his next work this guy is really good.

sknote is a other really good plugin developer , gonna check if their comps are on par quality wise haven t much used them yet but i supsect them to be in same league, specailly the tube emu one..sometimes i use it on bass it have good tube warmth..

nope the sk note comps are good but have a plugin sound..a bit too 2d.

about dc8c i dont know what magic voodoo code he injected but we need more plugins by this guy, a eq with that sound would be sweet

gonna spam him for new plugs..
if i remember right he worked 3 years on this one ,so it might take time lol

i bought the sknote roundtone about six months ago. it's nice, but hasn't made it on to many masters as it's too brutal/coloured for most things, with a lot of high end rolloff. but he's updating it all the time, and is promising new features and an "air" control in the next version.

yes, tony at klanghelm is totally cool. i started off by buying his VUMT when it first came out. best VU emulation i have ever used, and comes extremely close to my crookwood hardware VUs. DC8C really is unbelievabkle, i keep telling everyone to buy it! one ME i know is now using it as his sole mastering compressor. i just love the way i can dial it in like a hardware comp and it just sounds good. never had that with a digital compressor before. yeah, and EQ from him would be great!           http://hermetechmastering.com : http://www.discogs.com/artist/Gregg+Janman : http://soundcloud.com/babaluma

i once used it on a track with harsh highs that needed taming, i couldn t get the highend right with just eq ..enjoyed how roudtone used lightly made it more sweet it was perfect for that track.

played a bit more with dc8c and it finnaly grow on me..now i really have no more complaint on this plugs, it was user error.. for mixing it s really really good,i m thinking to sell most if not all my plugs comp and save for the api 2500 .
the negative ratio can be sick for creative compression..or when you want the snap out of a snare for example..the attack to pok..IT REALLY POK
and the tilt sidechain pfff so flexible ..i could get that middle forward sound like on the distressor almost spot on on some settings.
for fun i used it to duck other sound with the sidechain and wow..that thing is so clean and transparent you can get really crazy in a creative way.
also really like the first sat.. the second one remind me my culture vulture when driving the transformer output , i m not really fan of that sound but it may be usefull and work well on some source
