COPYING KILLS OUR MUSIC

well ...wow where to begin ???
just finished reading everything that was written here and i must say that a lot came up... i will tell u that from my point of view trance did began from listening to ripped off things that i listened while copying to mdisc in my travels, from there coming back i did and still do d\l a lot of music but... since i began listening to this music all the time and fell inlove with this whole scene then i now buy cds!!! which i would never have bought otherwise.
now days i know what cds i want to spend my money on and what artists i want to help by first listening to them through d\l their music aftet hearing them in partys or getting recommendations from friends and afterwards buying their stuff!!!
more i will add for my friends who almost all of them never hear trance music at home !!! i dont think they should buy the stuff... yes they come to partys yes they enjoy that but the only times they hear trance outside of partys is when they drive in my car or when they are at my place!!!
(and they contribute to the artists in cuffing out the money for partys)
on this note : i went to u'r launch party (yuli) and when i bought for me a ticket with the cd i also bought about 7 additional tickets for my friends with out a cd and i hope u can see why they didnt want to buy the cd after making my last point.(btw only 12 ppl bought the cd there?!?!?!?!)
anyways i am now supporting the artists only because i love this music so, and i think that someone should look up and see that in order to attract ppl who like this music in partys and dont hear it much at home (cause lets face it there aint that much of us around to buy more then 3000 units for every cd that gets out) something new must be done :like lowering the prices significantly cause i am sorry but without getting into the math that where befor i want the money that i pay for a cd to arrive mainly to the artist which made this music and its because i have to give some for :the manager of the lable and his secretery and thier offices and the designer of the cover and his assitants all of their taxes the doorman of their firm and many more ppl on the way.
maybe its just me mumbeling but i think that if a new foroum of music selling would be opened like artists getting togeather and selling their music by track on the web while cutting all of the other BS then they would get much more for what they are prodducing and all the ppl i mentioned above will have to go out and create something...
i mean no disrespect mr. bin and i do not mean something personal agianst u cause this is already the system that is in hand in the world today...
anyways i am sorry for being so long in writing but u know how this stuff flows

i think it is the mind's right to die befor the body, but alas it is the body who is stronger in its will to perish...

1. long is fine as long as it interesting (and it was )
2. you are partially right abou the money chain thing, for example a good cover designer is important cuz the cover is one of the "bonuses" you get by buying a cd (and a cover increases the sales drasticly, i think)
3. i agree that the artists should find a way to sell thair music on the net but that way the close the non-internet guys market which is bad.           REHAB is for quitters

you know... here in Greece, trance music (not the commercial one) isn't sold in big music stores...

why is that? wouldn't that improve sails? i don't know if it's like that to other countries, too...

it is a fact that people who buy cds - and are not related to trance like we are - go to big stores..
when i said to my friends that my first track was released in a compilation they asked me:
"where can i buy it? can i find it at (the name of a big music shop)?"
and i said:
"no, you have to go to (an unknown music store to 'non-trance' people). you go to that street and then you turn left and then right and bla bla bla......"
i believe you can see my point here...

this isn't the main reason for sales going down but it could help them rise up again..

(yes! yes! let's corrupt the feeble minded! make everybody a trancer! take their money!!)

joking..           in search for an answer...

Thalaron,

I agree with most of the points u brought up.. I definitely don't want to make ppl that don't listen to certain music at home to go and buy it... But for sure I believe that ppl like u, that like the music more than going to parties, to do the effort and buy themselves music that they like to hear, or at least part of it, since we all have difficulties and hard times.. No one can afford getting everything he wants...

About the no. 12 - that was in the release party in Beer Sheva and not in Benyamina, where I suppose u were..

Well if ripping CDs is the problem I say, Labels should move to the more analog, LPs. I mean you could still copy a vinyl onto computer but it wont sound to good.
I think if lables started to do LP only releases the sales of their music would go up a little more. I mean if there is no CD to burn, your gonna have to buy the LP no? Plus if you are a dj you dont wanna play a CD that has that vinyl sound to it would you?!
Thats my soulution.

"vinyl sound"..

I won't anything analog get near to my computer. Sorry, but I'm a digital freak with an analogophobia.
If they turn to vinyl, they can forget about me buying their records.

Here's a summury of my thoughts:

- CD's should cost less (8-10 $)

- People should commit themselves to buying at least 1 cd per month

- Labels should stop releasing tons of crap, and limit themselves to releasing only quality stuff (less quantity, more quality)

-= Drink Coca Cola =-

- Internet based music shops (like psyshop) should make "Cash on Delivery" services available in Israel too. Allot of people in Israel are looking to buy stuff from psyshop, but they don't want to pay by credit card.. COD id better, and would increase sales imo!

- People should stop and think about how they are ruining the scene by copying music

- People should spend less money on drugs, and more on music (I could use this advice...)

- = Coca Cola is good, yummy yummy, i want cola now = -

- Artists should not expect to make most of there money from cd's. We all know that most artists earn there living from playing at parties

- Labels should add bonuses to the CD's (T-shirt, hat, poster, hashish, coca cola...)

- People should learn to respect the artists, for the hard work they put into every track

-= buy cola now =-

- Artists should learn to respect people, and understand that allot of people don't allways have allot of cash to buy music...

- We should all get together, goa heads, artists, dj's, label owners, and smoke some fine collumbian shit together           MiniMAL cabron...
