Three things that really (REALLY) piss me off on the subject:

1) the DJ factor Bim mentioned. Fuck (oops) I'm not even a DJ, and I'm probably one of the guys in Brazil who has more original discs. I'm not kidding, I personally know a lot of DJs (they tend to appear everywhere these days) who go for months without buying a single disc.

2) people spend a HUMONGOUS amount if money every single weekend on drugs, and don't spend a single damn dollar on the music. PLZZZ take your acids and go listen to rock once you've managed to kill psy trance.

3) take a look at CD Reviews section. People have the NERVE to review CDs who aren't even released officially yet, which they get from the net. Some time ago, I bitched about it, but I quit doing so 'cause it caused to much stir in the forum.

Bom!

Yuli, write 3 CDs a year, I buy your 3 CDs man. Write 10, I buy 10.           the greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist....

Well Luiz,

Well said especially no. 2 - u managed to hit the nail on it's head.. for sure

About the 3 cd's per year - thanx for the compliment man, but I guess I stay with my pace... Tranquility is the name of the game in this rabbit race.. Tranquility           A man with a "master plan" is often a woman

Deep respect, and true sympathy to artists trying to make their entire living by selling CD's. The story of the struggling artist, though, is as old as time itself. We all want to make a living doing what we love....

About the topic line, however, copying may be killing *your* music, but it certainly isn't killing psytrance, in my opinion. Psytrance is certainly always changing, but I really don't believe it's dying.

And like I've said before, I never would have become a trance addict, spending - oh my God - way too much money on CD's and events if I hadn't received some psytrance copies from a friend.

And about Luiz's #2 - people would definitely take copied candies for free if they could! Internet technology just isn't there yet....

just a few thougts on the subject from my side:

1. mp3s/net arent just bad things. they have also positive aspects. eg like new ppl get in contact to trance...

2. the distribution is in some countries a real problem. so ppl see the cds they want in the net and download it

3. the prices are too high imo. im not willing to pay like 15 euros for 1-2 good tracks on a cd... (thats why i buy vinyl) the solution could be, as someone already mentioned, to sell single tracks over the net.

4. there is so much crap music around. it sounds hard but not every artist or label deserves to survive (financially of course).

5. copying was always part of the musicb. and will always be. the question is how much u copy.

6. i wonder if all artists who are complaining about copyright respect other ppls copyright... like samples and software like cubase/logic or whatsoever

Well just spend 150 euros for buying this week cd's

The bad thing is that i just discovered that Hommega sold its rights to a specific company here in Greece and if i want to purchase a Hommega cd then i have to go to the other side of my town and thats something that i simply wont do cause Athens is a terrible town to walk.
Whats that thing with the labels?
I liked the old way where my local record store had anything           Toodaloo Motherfuckers!!!!!

there are some people that MP3's make them buy cd's (like me)
and some people just want to get the latest MP3's, the most new and unreleased tracks,.. and they don't buy cd's.
that's another problem, most people try to get the newest and unreleased tracks, if they wouldn't get to the net... they will perhaps buy cd's...
'cause released tracks doesn't interests everyone, most people don't like to get old music           u can find "Anything U Want" using the search...

I don't understand how this subject is still relative? I mean Audiogalaxy is dead (for almost 2 months now).
If CD sales are still down, then maybe its time to look for another reason.
Yes there is still FTP's and such, but how many people actually have access to this stuff?

I think that the main problem is that most people consider Trance as mostly dance music, for parties, and they aren't really intrested in hearing it at home. I have a very diverse CD collection of 500 CD's and I only really listen to trance in my car, on long drives. And its still hard to get my friends to join in on the fun, because after all, you can't really listen to a Trance CD and have a social conversation with people. You really need to listen to it with no interruptions. In short: Trance isn't background music.           Both teams played hard

In my opinion it is only the money problem !!!
If all the cds will cost around 9-10 $ I will buy all my cd's for sure ! I am a 17 years old and not have a regular salary (and alot of trance addicted people are 16-18 years old and they can't afford to spend so much money on cd's).
