well... for me there isn't only black and white...

"you eirther buy cds or you a theif!"...

this is wrong... think about this one Sound Surgeon:

as you said, from one point you will have no more money to buy new cds (either cause you stopped working or whatever...)
this means that you won't buy any more cds. no money no funny. so, if you get mp3s that you will not share with anyone else, are you doing any harm? yes and no. mostly it is no for me cause if you don't get the mp3s you won't get the cds, too, so it's the same thing. no new music for you. if you do get mp3s, you ARE taking part on something illegal and of course the person who gives you the mp3s hurts the scene and the artists. not you, you won't give them to anybody. but then again by listening to those mp3s you may buy new cds in the future with your future money, that you wouldn't buy if you hadn't follow up the progress......
for me to get mp3s that you do not trade is like borrowing the cd from a friend and keeping it for a long time...

it's actually as simple as it is confusing...

No one owes artists money just because they release music. If you get an mp3 listen and delete it because you thought it sucked then i dont think you owe the artist a dime, if you listen every day because it enhances your life then yea i think the artist is owed.
The problem with record sales is because of the poor quality of music being released. If ANY label released an album that is/was as ground breaking, good and different sounding as Lone Deranger or IFO it would sell.
I download mp3s and buy the good stuff. The loopus album is a good example of sounding different and just kicking ass. I bought that. The comps that i downloaded, listened to once and sounded no different than 20 other comps released this year were deleted to save hard drive space.
So much new releases sound like it was made in a "psytrance paint by number program"
access virus , check
gms sounding bass line, check
farting noises and 144bpm kick, check
hi hat in between the kick, check
record, master, release... then bitch about why no one buys your masterpiece when there was 10 other masterpieces released that week that sound no different than the one you released.

that does not mean i will not buy cds anymore.......but i will buy much less. however the my question is other:
i love the trance music, but if i will buy 3-2 original cds a month, that will be about 20-30 tracks, but that is not enough for me....so what can i do? i need that music and i cant afford buying every thing i want, there are many albums that i do want to buy (as i wrote before)
i need a solution, so be creative and try to help

creative..??? what do you think? that there's a great secret for those who cannot buy a lot of cds..??

the only thing you can do is eirther write your own tracks or find a better job...

and as for the quote, you didn't read my post right... i said you won't buy any more cds if you have NO money at all. it was an example...

next targets Sesto Sento & Dark Soho
i think the prices are too high, and there many albums\compilations that have 1\2 good tracks in it.....so i will not buy a cd for 1 track....i cant afford that luxury to myself

it's a big problem. yes. i don't know what to tell . maybe if all guys that download mp3 at least buy albums too it's not so much problem. but most of them only download...this is the problem...anyway hope no new labels go down. and it's appearing new labels too...good luck to all labels in the world including all artists

I have been thinking lately about what issues have been raised lately and strongly disagree with the 'thief' idea..
If you review what has been posted in the top 10 over the past month+ since Audiogalaxy went down you can realise what shite has been posted..
Not in quality.. but in quality of information..
Bad information on releasing labels, track names..
and I know there were some ppl were posting this intentionally.. but lately it has all gone to crud.. you have to be aware to realise where the tracks are being released from..
How are we expected to purchase what we believe to be quality releases when the source information is wrong..
How do we find it? How do we know if we like it? This is killing labels and nothing else..
I don't disagree that things got out of hand and ppl were stockpiling but for the genuine connoisseurs of trance .. we're f**ked unless we've got cable and 20Gb to share..
So we rely on bad information and 1/2 arsed reviews to point us to good up and coming releases .. thanks.. this works out alot better for who?

P.S I buy and download when I can.. try before you buy.. sort the shit from the clay..

I've always wanted to say this so now I will.
People say that "downloading a mp3 is about the same thing than stealing someone's car" ..well it's not.. I mean imagine if you could duplicate someone's ferrari and then take it. That would be so PHAT!           "The dinosaurs became extinct because they didn't have a space program."

I think its about time the content gets disconnected from the medium. Do customers need to support a cumbersome offline business model when they theoretically could download an actual ISO (yep uncompressed so without quality loss) of the exact same content and burn them themselves.

No more extreme long distribution chain (middleman, shipping+costs, manufactoring blabla). One mouseclick for transmitting the ISO image to HD and another mouseclick to burn it, out of the lazy chair. Voila a 1:1 carbon copy (yep!) of the CD you could also order but have to wait 3 weeks and pay loatsa redundant costs for.
Its not killing the music...its killing a previously profitable business.

We, the consumers have our own tools to manufacture, we have the bandwidth to DL it in an hour or 2 (well, some have)...now al we need is a -legal- place to buy, yes buy, and download the ISO images (I prefer quality over lossy compression but MP3 is an option). All a label/artist needs is a couple of fast servers and one master copy. Think about the business opportunities of that 1.

MP3 players outsell CD-players 5:1...Ever heard about market forces? The market kinda decides now its time for digital distribution...The content is finally liberated (portability).

Besides, 5.1 surround music is coming (unbelievable that movies are in 5.1 and music isn't!)...CDs will be redundant in a few years (SA-CD, Music-DVDs, PC media playback supports 5.1 already).

We have 5.1 enabled PCs with CD/DVD burn capabilities, MP3 and DVD-players and broadand nowadays...and people expect the consumer not to combine and use those?

Adapt or die...that digital revolution is worth shit if 'zeros and ones' (intangibles) still must be bought in an offline store or shipped per UPS.
