Can house and trance co-exist?

Well, here's the issue.
When I talk about house music with people who usually listen to trance music , they say that they can't listen to house. When I talk to house lovers, they usually say they can listen to trance.
Now if I'll talk with someone who doesn't listen to either, he'd say they're the same.

Why is it? Why do people almost hate the other music type? Is there anyone out there who likes both kinds and is willing to stand up and correct me?

When people say they're the same it's because they didn't actuallty listen to them.
They hear it here and there and they only hear boom boom boom.
So when you ask them, it's the same.
On the other hand, people who do listen to each genre know the differences and like only one.

they are co-existing
the some trance tunes becoming more housy, i say clubby, and so some house tunes becoming more agressive like trance.

Well. all the big-shot labels are establishing prog-house counterparts.
That means something...
Spiral Trax (ACDC)
Digital Structures (Vsual)
Dragonfly (Kamaflage)
can't all be simultaneosly wrong           the greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist....

Well, the thing is that they are different but have a grey area in between the two (club-trance for example).
You see a lot of people who like several music genres (rock+classic for example) but hardly anyone who likes both trance and house...

i dont realy know what trance you listen to, but most of the trance releases of this year are more influenced by the club/ibiza/house sound, then by any goa spirit.

so the difference between this genres is mostly the poze that involved with, then the music itself.

myself, i better with the 'club played at nature" kind, but i also going to clubs from time to time to have it where it belongs.

I think it's more of a cultural difference then a musical.
most trancers are hard core hippies, while house clubbers are mostly sucsessfull yuppies.
at the TLV club i have seen Israeliu clubbers going nuts on trance and ocasionally (on a more relaxed less full on croud) I have seen house sets working wonderes on Trancers.
So I think it's more cultural, besides alot of the trancers / housers haven't listened to the other guys janre seriously.           Kinetic Honda GmbH, Worldwide Supliers of Quality noise.

not like both? ive listened to both for many years
here in the mainstream its mostly just dance music with a lot of the big name djs
they play tech house, deep house and cheeset trance all under the same roof
i dont see why people complain
listening to house music, the real stuff, is no different to listening to pop or rock
its just another musical style
and good musical deep house is a totally different vibe to psytrance altogether or 'regular' trance altogether, the faact that most of the time they have a four to the floor beat shouldnt mean theyre lumped in to a similar incompatible category

afterall who could forget happy hardcore (or even bangin hardcore for that matter )

Well, it's a matter of mentality and the way you see things, that's it.
I couldn't stand house once, today I can listen sometimes, but nobody will ever catch me alive in a club.

Eddo, try listening to Space Safari for instance, very housy style, and though straight out of the Freeform label.           Majority is never right!
