Save your money. Don`t buy those kinda CDJ`s that will "probably" or "most likely" get the job done. Save a little longer and buy Pioneer CDJ 200`s and you`ve got your entry level setup.

but i recomend the 400's (with usb) or the 1000's just cause they are awsome... and personly even prefer the 100's touch then 200's but surely its just me (?)

I agree…I bought two CDJ-200’s to replace my 100’s and I gotta say, I actually don’t like the touch of the jog wheel as much as the 100’s. The pitch slider goes to +/- .05, which is nice, but on the 200’s it never seems to stay where you leave it. Haven’t tried the 400’s but the 1000’s are just in a whole different league. Those are so smooth.

I think Pioneer's CDJ-200 have the worst jog wheel feeling in all Pioneer CDJs, even 100s jog wheel touch is better           www.myspace.com/vensker

Thats why you can buy a special spunge for the jog You may buy the same one as CDJ 400 is having. So, no need to complain over the CDJ 200 just because of the jog feel

the surface of the 200's jog wheel is the exact same as the 800 and 1000, but colored differently (silver instead of black)

but the feeling is complitely different with all of those players, well in latest models 800 & 1000 is almoust same.... i like my cdj 200 and dont have anything bad to say about it for a dj its good to learn to play with all kind of cd players, so you wont be in trouble if venue doesnt have cdj 1000mk3           http://www.myspace.com/polly_potb

Yes, and the wheel on the 200's feels kind of flimsy and dips down a little when you press down on it, the 1000's feel much sturdier, plus they are black rubber instead of brushed aluminum. There are a lot more differences than just the color.

Lets return 4 a minute to talk about mixing
When im mixing, switching between the low is ok
im doing this fine but after that when im trying to switch between
the mids and high, it always sound like there is one track
doing fade out, and it doesnt sound like a perfect mix
(although the beatmatch is very good) any suggetions how to do this right?
Thanx....

Why not try a gradual change in the mids and highs where you slowly trade them between each other... maybe start with the mids and highs of the incoming track at say 9 or 10 O'Clock and as soon as you get to like 11 on the highs or mids of the incoming track, start fading down the highs or mids of the outgoing track..

A lot of this is really about what tracks you play as well and how they are structured... for me a good combination of tracks is when the mixing point is reached, the outgoing track starts losing elements and the incoming track gains elements. To be honest you do want the elements of the outgoing track to kinda fade away as your attention becomes diverted to the incoming track, unless you're playing two tracks right on top of each other. When you turn down the mids and highs of a track it will sound like it's fading out, because in a sense that's exactly what is going on. You are turning down the volume of the frequency bands. I tend to like to leave the mids and highs there but not as present after the mix has been performed. So you don't have to turn them all the way off, unless the sounds start conflicting.           An Eagle may soar, but Weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.

^ totaly can visualize what mr. mubali jsut said coz i also kind of tend to do the same - mix the incoming one and put up the fader as the leads of the outgoing one are dying out - sounds very clean - there is usually a nice break in the middle for the incoming kik bass to pound when it plays !

im eager to hear a mubali set - i have only heard good things from ppl bout it

Of course Mubz knows what's up. I learned how to mix on the ol' Technics 1200's. If you can afford the cdj1000's obvisouly the way to go. Killer rig.
One thing, don't forget to EQ!!! And as always, 2+2=4. This applies for arithmetic as well as sound, if you catch my drift.           www.dants.net

Apologies. What I mean to say is, when you start to bring in a new track, always check your levels. I was with my friend last night who was recording a set (on my rig, so he's not really used to it) And he mixed out of a song and there was considerable volume decrease. Kills the mix every time. You also don't want to go the other way, (2+2). Say you wanted to do a cut sort of mix where the incoming track breaks in @ a transition. If you're levels aren't correct, you could have ablast of volume, and then it drops off after the mix is complete. Also a mix killer. Check your levels! So simple and yet so often overlooked. Present company included

thanks
