Come on !
be creative, this is the artist meaning, don't ya fink so?

wot's the point ?
I'm a painter, i use my imagination to create unique tricks while i paint, this is my ID on my works.

Every artists should have his own unique ID.
if they don't have any original identification marks in their own music, they are worth nothing.!

thats art man- part immitation, part innovation.

well well well......
all said n done......in the process of being innovative one seeks to look up to someone.....
unless you have a role model...where do you seek inspiration from???
its very important to enhance one's creativity...for which one tends to look up to someone or something ....which becomes his or her inspiration'...
but its totally upto *you* how you *tend* to flourish what you have within you with something from which *you* have got inspired with....
n exactly no two tracks sound's the same....

If you are an artist, then why don't you use imagination to make some art of your own style !

Stop copy other full on big names, it getting old and boring and even cheap !

Do you use your imagination at all, or just listening to other artists ?

I every form of art there's some level of copying, innovation typically happens in small inperceptible steps. It takes time for an artists to find their "voice". Perhaps we have many a producer who is technically very adept but musically basic. It's quite rare to have "punctuated evolution"- sudden change. You think the psy-trance genre is loaded with copycats, you couldn't even imagine how many blues bands are out there that sound the same. You can argue that blues is a "conservation" music and that psy-trance is "innovation" music. Psy-trance is totally in ensconched in cliche like every other art form. By the way, the Rolling Stones we're a "blues band", thing is they weren't from southern united states, they ended making their own sound.

Another thing, record labels tend to very specific about the sub-genre of music they cater, and select from tons of demos. Sure, 99% of the demos are of lesser production quality but could you see Spun releasing a Son Kite album (production levels high enough for each other)? You have to wade thru the dozens of releases that sound similar, the labels wades thru hundreds of demos. Also, music afficionos expect a certain sound from labels and I think the labels are cogniscent of that (they're music freaks, they've got to be to run a label).

My suggestion, be patient, change will happen. Check out other genres, revisit old ones from time-to-time. Sounds like Mari is jaded with the current crop of releases. get drunk...sway to the blues or jazz.

Go and make your own music, see how hard it is, how demanding and unrewarding it is - and I dont mean sitting fiddling with Cubase a while and calling yourself artist like so many in this forum do. See how little physical reward you get from producing music and publishing it - just like Yuli wrote in one of his threads.

sorry helen, but i don't agree with you.... i know lots of guys that produce for THEMSELVES (AND NOT FOR PUBLIC RECOGNITION) and for me they are true artists, because they are doing things i never eard before, and they are doing it FOR LOVE, not for money or for some "physical rewards" of some kind!!
I think the true ARTIST (and i think you guys are using this word BAD) is someone who do things for love, with sacrifice, braking barriers and formed concepts only to feel the pleasure of creating something NEW!!
I make my onw music at home, and i prefer to do music for myself, trying to explore new sonorities and trying do do something NEW! i i don't attempt to make music for great audience, but if you guys want to be famous and make your music reach everyone, you got to be creative, you got to keep the level of your creativitie or else get out of the game!!

ps - (look at Aphex Twin...that's a good example of a TRUE ARTIST,true CRIATIVITIE!!! do you see any copycats of him?? hehe )

Psilocibino , wake up and smell the humus man - you, and all the flower kids here are talking like me 12 years ago when I was so impressed with "Woodstock, the movie".
Even serious people like Yuli BLT, who really has the passion in him, admitted here that it was impossible to continue professional production/release in this small scene. I agree that true art comes from the heart, not the bank account, yet I also understand the need to succeed.

I'm also quite bored with the current musical situation, but I also know that this is a natural turn of the wheel, and it always happens.
There is, however, a difference between being personally bored and going out bitching and demanding fresh stuff from artists like a bunch of unemployed mothers infront of governament offices - let the people who do the time and space to find new ways and sounds, or concentrate on what you like.

There is also an option that many here forget: there is shitload of good music that can be heard for more than 1 month, u know - why dont you go and pick a good CD and listen to it? why do u have to change your playlist so often?
(another irritating thing about trance music - the constant demand for fresh sounds - while forgetting good material that is already released...)

Well... First of all I think that Mari.Morgan needs to make a nice research on music.

And I totally agree with Helen. A big problem is that EVERYBODY can make music nowadays. And what´s the easiest way to succed?? For sure copying the artists U like the most, or the artists that sells the most. But I have some points about labels also, for sure they could release more inovative music(but it´s very hard to do, cause of sellings for sure).

And what I see is artists only want to be STARS. They don´t care about money, about music. They care about being a celebrity. That´s the dream of this new brand of artists(that Mari said about).

And one more thing. I can´t believe in this "making music cause I love psytrance". I started to make music cause I really like to do it. But if I want to do it on a professional way, I wil not think like that. Just read Yuli´s posts... Ppl don´t care about it! Ppl just want to go crazy at dancefloors(sorry for the ppl that really likes to dance nice music)...           LOADING...
