Ahh...Bullshit That means that you are not a good DJ. You are not controlling the situation!

Would you say the same if he were given a crappy $50 stanton mixer? Technics CD decks instead of Pioneer? Absolutely no light in the DJ booth, or worse, a light shining right in his eyes so that he was completely blind?

Monitors are standard equipment for a DJ and anyone who throws parties is obligated to provide them unless they KNOW that the DJs don't need them.

I would say that as a dj you should handle every situation that u are thrown. roots of the psytrance is in illegal outdoorparties with geart that u can borrow from your friends, and also all the best parties nowaday are also made with same idealogy.

i think over 50 % of my gigs i play in condition that are not perfect mostly conditions are ok but some times they are horrible and u just have to learn to live with it... raise your hands who has played a gig with soundsystem being so loud on stage that u can barely hear anything on your headphones and still u just have to figure out how to handle it or no monitor speakers or sound bouncing from back wall so badly that everything u hear on stage is just trainwrekking or what ever...

all i'm saying that there is situations with even perfect setup, ideal mixer and ideal players that shape of room or position of stage gives u really hard time and what u gonna do then if you cant handle the situation, go bithching on isratrance how organiser fucked things up even every other dj managed to play their gig           http://www.myspace.com/polly_potb

Ahh c-mon! I am playing for more than 9 years mate I am used on every strange experience! technics players are ok..if you invest some energy into them! Why watching the bpms on the Pioneer when you can really search your tempo with technics?!? That lame..like: "Hey man..i am coming only if you have CDJs with BPMs!" ) hahaha If you are a DJ..you need to be prepared on every bad detail at the club!

Bad stanton.. man.. i have played on na mixer which didnt have no bass, mid and treble knobs?!?!?! you need to work on a passages in the tracks...

No light... Thats why allways mobile in my right pocket...!!! What do you think..that all the organisers have everything settled so you all stars can come in and bang the floor with BPMs CDJs and the latest top 3 mixer dream on...!!!

well... i agree with both in parts, i really think that organisers should give you an acceptable condition to play, but i have already played in parties that didn´t offer these conditions...
summarizing, dj´s that are able to play only in one occasion, or need special condition like bpm counter, pionner cdj´s, SUX.... sorry but they are not dj´s...

well... If you got payed! organiser expect that you are gonna play nevermind the equipment. DJs MUST take control of everything on the DJ stage.. if the CDJs are stanton, gemini..nevermind about that! You need to show to the organiser that you are fully equipped and prepared on that situations aswell!

The lack of a bpm counter is by far not the SL-DZ1200's biggest problem

And I am still wondering where is this bizzaro world where psytrance is played in clubs and DJs get paid more than travel costs + intoxication.

I got paid 3 or 4 times as much from playing in local clubs than i ever did on any swedish party. (without even asking for it)

They can afford it

i got paid many times playing here in brazil... but nowadays this "phenomenom" that we are discussing here is becoming more and more usual, organisers looking for dj´s that know less, just because they play for free.

i don´t play for free when people are making money with the party ...

about the equipment, i suppose the discussion here is not about what "kind" of cdj or mixer we are playing in ... but in what conditions do they are...
i accept to play in any kind of equipment, but i must confess that i don´t like to play in a equipment where the "cue" button is broken ... or the mixer is "leaking"...or the jog is out... this kind of bizarre situations happened with me .. and i think this is a shame for the organiser..

cheers

It has happened to me once..when the CDJ didnt work..and i havent took my vinyls with me.. i simpy did some looping! Or its too hard for you? ... practice needed... everyone can be a "nowiwanttobeaDJ" DJ! Where they can see the BPM range..and knows whats fader..chn 1 an chn 2... i can do some trix with only one CDJ

now a question: Can you? hehehehe
