well we have very few, but good talent like Kaa (Tribal Vision).

yea indeed Kaa is very talented, heard one of his sets here in Delhi India, was one of the best prog set i heard in my life.

Dubai as far as i know has a pretty decent scene & many top acts have been doing rounds recently.

I think many people are confusing Arabs (an ethnic group) with Islam (a religion). Have a look at the member states of the Arab league:

i think ever since Raja Ram told everyone to find "newer and greener pastures" psytrance has been spreading like a virus. I heard about this one party that happened in Kish, Iran organized by some Russians there dunnoh who...
Iran and Russia have been building strong relations and Russia's largest export after oil is dark psychedelic trance music and so while most of the people are looking west, its better to look North of the middle-east region and check what the other big brother is sending for christmas...its time to re-examine our views about psytrance as thing from the west...quite frankly it started in the east and spread to the west...but as long as the virus is spreading, its good for everyone           When death comes to your doorstep, make sure you are alive

i dont want to get into politics here, but the conditions in that country are 101% anti- this culture and anything it could bring with it.

Yes, first they have to be a free country and not a medieval one like now.

And BTW, arabian psytrance .. maybe that 1200 mics track "Egypt"

i was corresponding with an Iranian guy involved in Psy on one of these social networking sites- asking him how it "really" is...
its certainly not a favorable place to make events and there is great risk but its not like everyone is all medieval... i guess it depends on the circles you hang out in and how you are allowed to act in private vs public...
they certainly hold events behind closed doors and people are people Surprise Surprise!

if it werent for the current government there (a reaction to western interference by the local religious hicks.... not so different than Alabama;) joke) many of the people would be quite happy to sit in their bikini at the cafe smoking a spliff...

mr. Med you should bear in mind that Iran is second after China for total number of executions and #1 per capita (over 400 last year- and not a very big country) and often for offenses like sodomy etc...
bearing in mind the USA still has death penalty but imposed for murder in certain states etc... and the total # is rather low if highly publicized... barbaric nonetheless but not really comparable...

i always wonder why people who don't believe the official story about something are so willing to believe some nutball who writes a book and alleges a conspiracy...
????!?!?!? wtf?!?!? anyway...
i digress... just bashing on paranoia mindlessly...

but interesting point about differentiating Arabic ethnicity from Arabic countries, from Islam as a religion- which has little to do with the former except having come from that world but doesnt really explain Malaysia for example... like calling Christians Europeans...hehehe

by the way Iran is Persia- very definately not Arabic... very much not so...
and Neither is Turkey Arabic- the Osmanli's and crew showed up in Anatolia from Central Asia around 1172 by the Gregorian Calendar...

Interesting to note that an unlicensed open air party can get you into trouble in many places... and a noise complaint in damn near any country...

so plan well...
and bear in mind that many countries have drug laws that are beyond medieval... dont do illegal naughty things that are bad as we all clearly know they are...
you know- the unicorn drugs convention knows whats best for us... thats why all our nice governments signed it...

Well mr.Ocelot I'm not Iranian first of all,n my comment had nothing to do with that, what i said was that its funny how people think that some countries are medieval whether they are Arab,Persian,Asian or whatever !!

+1 for wondering how people choose the nutball's story to believe...

So people post such comments based on things they saw on TV or read in some book is rather funny !

ok sorry. good point. i like to imagine things i guess...

+1 to you for pointing out fantasy.

- people are people. and governments generally kiss ass to the lowest common denominator... not often elevating the vibe so to speak.

hats off to anyone elevating the vibe in their place.

First of all i would like to congratulate the Ravelations(Dubai) crew on their 1st anniversary for doing tremendous work to promote the music/artists/djs in Dxb.

Yeah...other than Dubai, which has a major scene, very small scenes happen every now and then in countries like Bahrain, Oman, Lebanon etc. which is mainly done betweem a group of friends or whatever.

I was living in Saudi & Bahrain for close to 5 yrs and tried organising a few "clean" parties in Bahrain.A major issue i've noticed there is the way our music is perceived.People there are not educated about the whole scene n culture and general perception is that enjoying a psychedelic party is impossible without trips or other chemicals or whatever.
Even organisers are more interested in the house/commercial music scene cos thats where all the money is which i feel may demotivate any artists (if there are any) wanting to come up in the psy scene.

So imho unless people there are educated as to what this whole scene is about i see very less potential for artists/djs in arab countries.

This is a bit offtopic but its one of the main reasons why this music/culture we love so much is neglected in that part of the world.

Bom!

About ocelots point on how people choose to believe crappy theories and not the govt., well these theories maybe bullsh*t but there is one common truth in almost all ov them, and that is that we are being lied to constantly by our governments and they are obviously doing a pretty good job ov it. Least these theories get you to question things rather than to blindly accept wot we are being told and be a mind slave.

ontopic, I live in kuwait now and there'z almost no scene at all here, infact the few times psy IS played people walk out ov the dance floor....hmmmm.            To FiNd YouRsELf YoU GoTTa LoSe YouRsELf FirSt!

i remeber he told me that he's seeing on the net promotions about parties in the north of israel with line up's full of artists he knows and likes and its only one-two hours drive from him and he cant go there becouse of the political situation
that's sucks...

anyway, he's now lives in india (i think chennai)

Yes, indeed, Rabih (Psychogenesis, Namaha Recs) is a very nice guy and an excellent Twilight Dj/producer from Beirut and currently in Chennai.
Had the pleasure to hear his set at 9bar n primrose.
He is also the main man behind Psyleb (www.psyleb.com), the online Lebanese Psychedelic forum, and one of the main guys behind the psychedelic scene there.

it s great to see that guys from dubai namely Rabih ,..are doin well outside..

last year Gidra also from dubai had played a good set @ shanti jatra and got some good reviews..

This year @ shanti Jatra , i would suggest you all watch out for Braindrop(omveda records) and Dj Grizzly both of whom , like Rabih (psycogenesis)had started off their dj careers here in Dubai...

Mental Metal - Namaha records (sid) is also a good dj based in dubai
all these guys are talented watch out for them ...!!
