I've been sending music over the years and have been contacted by trance fans and even trance musicians from Egypt, Lebanon, Iran, Algir and Jordan. It's pretty small of course, but that is to be understood, there are big culture differences. However, a lot of Arab cultures, especially the North African ones, have trance cultures of their own, much older than ours, and much deeper as well.           ---------------------------------------------

I used to live in Cairo and I'll tell you house music is huge there, and though a few of my raver friends enjoy psy music, there isn't much of a psy scene. Though there are a lot of great Egyptian house DJs. There are outdoor raves all the time usually in andrea Sa2ara (near the step pyramid) or at the Mo7ammed 3ali Swimming Club on the Nile, and maybe once a year near the great pyramids of Giza. Sometimes the raves are great like when Sander Kleinenberg came to play, but if there aren't enough girls at the party (sexual harassment is a huge problem in Egypt) or too many bee2a (Egyptian equivalent of "ars") people it's not that great. It may have changed but they used to announce the raves on yallabina.com. Usually you have to go to a beanos cafe or something and ask about buying tickets to the rave. Events are also announced on the hot mix on 104.2 Nile FM on thursday nights. In the summer there are a lot of events in Marina Beach and 3agami (North coast west of Alex, Egyptian answer to the Hamptons), though you have to either stay with someone or rent a house in those places. In the winter especially Sinai is happening, regular big events at Pacha. The hippie scene has moved from Dahab to Ras as-Satan where they have old school full-moon parties with acoustic drums.
Drugs are easily acquired as nearly 70% of Egyptian men smoke either hash or bango (cheap Sinai weed). Usually the military only gives you a problem about hash if they want it for themselves. Ecstasy is hugely popular among the upper class, even among middle-aged people (esp. the 3agami set). LSD is not as popular but can still be found. I have some friends that imported huge amounts of acid from Russia and sold it to tourists in the Sinai.
-Beirut has the best nightlife in the Middle East, hands down. (as far as I'm concerned Istanbul's Europe). Best nightclubs, best-dressed people, most beautiful girls, moreover everyone's very friendly and easy to talk to. Beirut you win. Sorry Tel Aviv. I've heard about a small psy scene there, but it's still mostly house and trance. Best clubs for electronic music: BO18- converted army bunker that's won several architectural awards and plays underground trance. Element, Basement, Sky Bar. Sometimes decent music at Acid, Beirut's gay club. Also regular raves at Forum de Beirut. The party never stops in Lebanon either, even while Israel was bombing. Two months after the war Armin van Buuren and Ferry Corsten were already playing in Beirut.

My fantasy is to have a psy festival in the Sinai--maybe feature some trippy house too. Since Israelis don't need a visa unless they cross the Suez, it's easily accessible and open to everyone. Throw a decent party there and you would get Egyptians, Israelis, Jordanians, and maybe even a few Lebanese. Just a beautiful party for peace with the majestic Sinai mountains, the azure Red Sea, the crystal-blue sky, and the warm Egyptian sun. What could be better than that?

Urban, I'd love it if you could give me more info on the psy scene in Jordan. I have a lot of friends in 3amman, but it's not a very exciting city---kind of like a wealthy sprawled out version of Palestine without any olive trees. Are most of the psy events in 3amman wala in wadi rum? Let me know.

I'v searched and i didnt find this kind of topic.
so here is my question:
is there any psytrance acts in the arab countries? or islamic countries?

i know that people there listen to psy and even israeli psy like astral projection and infected mushroom, But are there any artists or labels in arab lands?

I live in the United Arab Emirates (Dubai) and we have a small Scene of around 250 ppl who are regulars at our parties which are usually held in clubs...but we also have outdoors whenever weather permits here....
Most of us are From India .but we also have people from Europe and other arab countries who follow the music...

As for your second Question about the psytrance acts,....

We already have Gidra (parvati records )who is actually from India but been based here in Dubai For some time...
The only other artist is Braindrop (was based in Dubai but of recently moved back to india)Who will be releasing his first couple of tracks very soon..
there are other guys here in Dubai making music but not had any releases yet...
We also happen to have a couple of Talented dj s ,including Mental Metal who is signed up with the label Namaha Records....

And like mentioned before we have parties here atleast twice a month featuring top international artists and local talents...

Apart form Dubai I know that Lebanon,Moroco have people who have parties and also a very small scene in Bahrain and even Oman...

There are no Labels yet out of Dubai ,but ithink if the scene improves it is only a matter of time before that also happens..

Nothing is happening in Jordan when it comes to psychedelic trance. they have a decent House scene, and they got great minimal house talents, but there is no crowd for psytrance.
as for Lebanon, well we have very few, but good talent like Kaa (Tribal Vision). Others are mainly Dj, but not artists.
few parties happening here and there, Other electronic genres are much more appreciated !

I think many people are confusing Arabs (an ethnic group) with Islam (a religion). Have a look at the member states of the Arab league:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arab_League

It seems there is some trance activity in UAE, Morocco, Lebanon, and Qatar. If you have a look on Orkut you might find some communities for these areas.
