I can say what I want.. try to take that right away from me and I'll fight back.. if I think that artist does not have talent why the hell should I respect him? Just cause he's "part of the scene".. I bring out my own unique opinions.. if you don't like them, well that's just fine with me, cause I still will most likely think the way I thought before.. you have no idea how much shit I've heard about GMS and know for sure that atleast some of it is true.. now this has nothing to do with them being untalented.. that's another thing... see.. GMS's music isn't too complicated, In my opinion ofcourse, I find it monotone, and think that could even myself create same kind of music.. just like Elysium Project said.. well.. well well.. I'm tired and don't really feel like defensding my views any more.. so feel free to bitch as much you want to.. but it's really unlikely that I will start to behave in any other way..
and for the mods.. sorry for the offtopic.. feel free to give me one of those offtopic stamps if you feel like it..           "The dinosaurs became extinct because they didn't have a space program."

Fucking fantastic. Couldn't have put it better myself.

And to answer they point of this topic, there are reasons why OOOD hasn't released anything for so long, and this is one of them.

COMING back to CHI's original question -

My apologies to Chi - I'm not an artist!

Question to Elysium-

Let's say you released your next album which is not for the masses, which was available only in a few countries. And you were then travelling on holiday in India and we bumped into each other.

Would you be more happy if I knew your music (consider that I can only afford downloads) and respected you as an artist or if i was completely unaware of you or your music.

The greatest joy for any artist is the applause (praise) he receives from his audience - isn't it. For without this, his art is meaningless. Money is then necessary to keep it going. Therefore we must buy.

Let's leave Infected and GMS out of this. At the end of the day, it is the market that calls the shots. Every artists think he/she is making the greatest music/painting/sculptor etc. Unfortunately due to marketing hype/promotional budget/PR etc. the market favors some artists more than the others.

While this would be true in mainstream forms - let's say fashion design - getting Jennifer Lopez to wear my design to teh Oscars (if i knew her) could take my art of fashion design to the top. In the meanwhile, I can continue cribbing that Donna Karan sucks and D&G are bad etc.

However for Trance music - MP3 and downloads is the greatest leveller. If everyone is having an Eskimo track on their Top 10 and I don't have any -then I check the web for it. If I can manage to get it, then I know what his style is and look forward to getting my hands on more - maybe at a store abroad (while on holiday). If I didn;t know about him from the P2P, would I buy an Eskimo CD.

Let's talk about someone like Neuromotor. The support that Mechanik Sounds has in India after Neuro and Hyperfrequencies - is immense. Many of Neuro's tracks are on the net, but that doesn't in any form bring the respect down for him. Ppl will travel miles cos they know, he will have 20 more killers that will take them into the future.

Elysium - big respect to you. But finally its the PEOPLE who are the market, not your own single person. Jazz drummers don't get booked a lot, but once in a while they tour with pop stars like Whitney Houston etc for money. They play Jazz in small bars with their mates for joy and very less money.

Peace.

The reason why bands such as Infected and Simon have gained the sales they have is because this scene is made up by drugs...sadly though !!!

If I wanted to..and mark my word "IF" I could start a project and call it LSD and make some music that are fast with deep basses and fluffy hook lines and I will bet my old hat that I could sell just as well as Infected... It's not about quality..it's about appealing to the drugheads on the floor. But of course this is my own opinion !

A good example is when Jean Borelli and I released Sheyba - "Trance Africa Express" - the track with the elephants... We did the track as a joke to copy that times big name Transwave and the X-file (monkey mix) - no offense guys..just for fun . And what happened? Our track became the most played and sold track in 1997..... So you see it's nothing to do with quality...it's all to do with feeding cliché's to the masses

I am sure many people get angry when I critisise the big names but sorry in my opinion the make factory music and just copy eachother over and over again

well....in my humble opinion....you just lost all your credibility with this insult to the public and to psychedelic culture. really surprises me to see an artist talking like this and mentioning names like halluciongen or infected on top of it.
the "trance africa express" is still very fresh in my memory and makes me very sad to read that it was created as a joke. u deserv no respect at all.....maybe you should think about another job....but do it far away from us ,drugheads .

about the download issue, i blame the ARTISTS!!! they are the ones who give the tracks away...they should be carefull with their work. if i was a producer, my tracks WOULD NOT be on the net unless i wanted them too be there.....

PEACE
