Fighting the psy mp3 mafia?
Thats gonna be tough...2 years ago the FBI raided some software pirates big time...the Drink of Die group to set an exaple. The FBI needed nearly 3 years to infiltrate and gain trust of this group which was a pretty small fish. 2 months the scare effect lasted...Then it was back to normal and the ISO/DivX/Appz mafia came back...business as usual. Raid one and two return.
Soulseek and stuff isn't mafia. The mafia are the ones with good connections to the labels and artists...Half of the stuff that gets the mp3 treatment are promo's, weeks or even months before the actual CD hit retail. In many cases mp3 is attractive cause the CD is weeks away from release. If labels want to do something about it...Check the promo list.
Can't blame people for being curious how the new Younger Brother sounds when they have to wait 4 weeks excluding ordering and shipping before they can legally hear it.
All the other options take a lot of time and money... |

yes you are right.
but this thing is like the egg and the chicken - who came first?
did the sales go down first, and then the labels started releasing in a higher rate?
or did the quality of music go down first, and people became sick of the 2-good-tracks-in-a-cd releases, and started downloading?

If sales are down, it makes no sense releasing more albums...
As i said before, i don't see twisted records in financial trouble... their quality is consistent. |

Well having just got adsl i thought i would go to soulseek to see what all the fuss is about. I thought i would search for Sensient...quite a few matches came up, mostly released tracks. But i noticed some files which i suspected was unr stuff (didnt have exact tracknames but i have my suspcions). So, i messaged the guys who had this stuff on their shared files saying "please dont share this stuff anymore as you are harming a new artists career". Then the next day i run a search on myself again and the offending files are gone...worth a try for other labels/artists maybe?
