What can be said more, as usual, kaz has very good, valid points.

Just let me add something: the day trance labels start making cd's not readable in computers is the day i'll stop buying cds.
The first thing i do when i get a new cd is rip it to the computer. It's much better to listen in mp3 than on cd in a computer.

Don't make that mistake... i'll be i won't be the only one. Anyway, these copy protections are faulty, because using a program like clonecd you can copy the iso image, or even extract the tracks you want.

Maybe the sales are down because the quality of the music is down too... has anyone thought that? I don't see Twisted records with financial problems... make your own conclusions.

i dont wanted to open new thread since what i going to write its sure question to labels, not connect to previously descussed stuff here (sorry traveller for using this net space of ya) - so my question is - why labels so fast on release artist album of any kind ?? why every or almost every trance act after releasing 2/3/4 trax/singles release a artist album ?? dont u think its a bit too much ?? what a pressure to make it ?? how do u think those young/old/medium age ppl that maked some interesting tune able o make whole album and at good and variety quality and diversity ?? take for example House scene (which more commerzial as most of ppl here sure), u just dont have artist albums, may be Deep Dish or H-Fundation or Circulation but all this after years of playing/compiling/releasing/WORK, do u think all those Dj Nukem or Chab or Marc O'Tool (that rising progressive stars) have a album ?? if they were making Psy Trance every one of them already were released a album or two and also some album in collobaration... its a bit annoying how every label WANT REALESE ALBUMS, but its wrong, becoze after sucesful EP's and single trax its a time for.. another single trak at same high quality, not for average artist album..
those albums make a big inflation on our market, what do u think ??           Believe your soul !

i've been saying that too eli...
a solo album should be something that expresses the creativity and EXPIRIENCE of the aritst for some time.
sometime even the FIRST release of an artist is a solo album, and that's fucked up.           REHAB is for quitters

Gotta agree on Eli here, most releases on the club/house scene are either singles or compilations.
I used to hate it at the beginning, but now I realize that it's much better this way. Almost no artist albums - even to some very known (especially after one or two hits).

if the sales are down maybe the labels should consider giving the boot to the bad selling artists and only keep the better selling ones..           "The dinosaurs became extinct because they didn't have a space program."

funny how it suddently are all the "bad selling" artists fault that sales are down...... come up with some better facts next time......

Well I am not agreeing with you Zombi...... btw I blaim the many many compilations for lack of sales in artist albums (beside the mp3 issue of course).... yes a single is a good promotion tool but a album is the cream on the pie. To only release singles is like telling a painter to only paint on 25% on the canvas..... A album (CD) is about telling a story and a piece of art.... something a "12.inch lack .......

but many times an album are 2-3 good already released tracks, and the rest is fillers.

it's everybody's fault.
the people - for not buying enough
the aritsts - lack of self quality control, sometimes unprofesionalism
the labels - again, lack of quality control and lack of understanding how their doings affect the scene           REHAB is for quitters

exactly, u cant make/eat only cream (well, u can, its only word games), u have to cook pie, its take time, its need patience and to be ready work some years only for very litlle number of trax on various compilations and some EP's, then, after crowd WANT the album, after ppl come to the shops and ask for a album from some specific artist, then its a time for album contract, not when u bring some kool tune and label straight want a three albums in next three years and some other label look at u and make another contract with same artist for 2 more albums in next two years, its absurd.
and no, im not coming with sollutions and suggestions, i just analize the market (its what im professional in, its my job), its kinda fault of ppl behind the labels, ppl that make a bubble that sure dangerous..
compilations that compiled by famous dj's always will bring a attention on, compilations compiled by unknown ppl hardly can do it..
but yeah, DJ in trance word is not realy importent part of deal, almost no professional djs that became populary becoze their dj skills, mostly producers djing at parties or ppl who will ever unknown coze they "only" djs.. beside Mark Allen and Anti and Dimitry i dont realy know ppl who became known to the world coze a dj skills (not they not make music just more attention they got as djs).. and on the other hand ppl who REALY professional djs as Cosmix or Sid Shanti almost dont get any attention.. its weird, coze this music for parties, at parties play Djs.. dunno..

Well I read your post as if you say that singles are more attractive than albums... which I don't agree with.

I agree that it's too much when artists release one CD after another but again if that artist really have something to say and don't repeat teh same formular then I have no problems with it...... But withoutemntioning any names I don't know that many artists that are tallented enough to release CD's that frequently.

A little history lection

A "12. inch is a promotional release making people interested in the artists CD....... Of course rules can be broken

albums more atractive than singles for home listener but became less as more in number it.. mean more albums less chances to hear it, more albums less real chance to be good ones and thats lead to less attention..
sure no problem with ones who make good variety blah blah albums, i even know some producers that make at least two albums every year (michael kohlbecker, gabriel le mar) and their music rock my world every time i hear it, i talk about global thing, labels and artists too concintrate on making albums and that a reason for lesss attention from a crowd, just becoze its too much and too repetetive.. again, i cant see mane artists make good album every year but i know alot labels that contract them to do it.. then no need to blame why its not sold..           Believe your soul !

and here may be come again this word "commerzializm", think about that thing - commerzial label rule by commerzial rules and ppl behind label just will not give a hand to high count of albums of unknown artists, just becoze its dangerous finnancialy. Global Underground and etc have alot of artists on their compilations (and vynils for djs) but they dont ask every one from this acts to make a album, and fast.. just coze seems they think before they do..           Believe your soul !

Doesn´t releasing lot´s of albums only feed the mp3 industry more??? As was said here before, lots of people download just for the sake of downloading, if there´s a shitload of music available, no matter if it´s good or not, that will be enough to keep traders happy since they seem only to want quantity and not so much quality.

If there were less releases and focused on quality stuff, there would be less music to be downloaded and since the releases would be better it would turn out to be more worthwhile buying the discs since the music would sound good and not like something you´ve heard before.           Search for life.

Audio Galaxy was shut down, Napster was shut down, can anyone tell me why Soulseek can't be shut down?
OK, especialised traders will migrate to another system, but the vast majority of normal persons will take some time to do that.
Nobody here share my opinion that Soulseek is the greatest psytrance trading engine ever?
