but your problem was the human touch, there is no human touch in a premixed cd since the dj's "reading" of the crowd does not exist due to the fact that he cannot alter the course of his premixed set.... so in the end, why even have him there? so he can dance around like a rag-doll?

yes, but a pre-recorded set still has more human touch even though its not reading the crowd... because after all its a mix made by a human... so its more human than a computer programmed mix.

yeah like a rag doll... your next dream is gonna be of string-puppet-dj's and a dancefloor full of post-counters.

oo aaa OUCH !

easy crazy kids.... as an idea, this one definitely holds water, but then, there've been many water tight ideas that have burst from the seams in real life.... e.g. Communism.

Find the DJ would be fun, but in the wild- if u were running around on unstable ground, tripping ur balls off searching for an elusive dj... u may end up hurting urself. Cool idea all the same.

rag-doll dancing is fun...heh, i do it all the time

so if thinking about comps controlling the scene on the floor, then sure we also need to invent the "VIBE SENSOR" for the comp that plays the mzk ....via irda and also prefeed it with the elements of tripping

good good shld venture the ideas and the future will be closer ssshhhhmka hahaha

and then also put up an ego level program in it and control the levels hahahahahaha

sign me in for a no dj prty

As for the VIBE SENSOR thats an easy one: Just set underneath the trance floor some pressure transducers, a lot of them. They'd be connected together to some interface, which, by its turn, would be wired onto the computer/hd AND the mixer. Then, when the crowd is stomping harder, or jumping higher or both, these sensors would then inform the cpu, which'd take appropriate measures to keep on the same line of tracks, or even apply some effects over the mixer, say cutting bass and increasing mids, or applying delays, whatever.

And we here, at Vibe-O-Matic, are also developing a face-vibe recognition system, equipped with the latest CCD technology and highly sofisticated firmware. This system, which is currently under test, is made up of several high quality cameras which, ramdomly zoom in the faces of the crowd, and then searching into our huge and exclusive face-pattern database, then decides the vibe level of the subject. Due to some chemical interferences we have been experimenting some mixed results, which, we expect soon to be normalized & corrected.

This, altogether with our Stomp/Jump detector, is soon to provide djs & party organizers with a reliable source of happiness and joy for years to come.

COMING: BOOM-O-LATOR, THE Vibe Inducer !!

But I'm still sticking to the no dj party concept. It's worth a try.

This is great!!! What an idea... Whenever you feel like it, you just go into this dark room and the music is playing sensored by the emotions of the people who are there...

There are several promblems with this theory though. Eventually you will want to go to the "auto parties" where the music being played is the one that you like the most. Because of the constant input of all the people there, this would be optimally achieved if the people there all like the same style of music (or give the same readings by the measurement methods). And here is where it becomes a bit complicated... In order to determine which songs produce which reactions there must be patterns that one can study which are of course observations of previously collected data. Now, the question becomes, how do you asses human response accurately enough in order to create a more enjoyable listening experience? So for example, person 1 goes to "auto party A" and hears track x and reacts sensorily and emotionally a certain way, described in detail within the following parameters: dancing/smiling/temperature/heartbeat/energy/etc.
How does this then translate into input into the following track, or more specifically, what will be the code to apply a certain reaction to a certain following tracks. Better said, what are the qualities of each track, how will they be assessed, qualified, quantified and linked to the human feedback in order to produce some sort of relationship and as a result alter the course of the mix??

Once this hurdle is crossed, if at all, the underlying question always ends up in a very simple concept... what is the purpose?? what are we trying to achieve?? What kind of emotions and reactions are we trying to deliver through all these products??

One can go further by saying that we want people to enjoy the music to the maximum extent possible. That is, there should be no other sonic combination at that point in time which will bring he/she more joy. This is a BIG question.

Setting this aside for a moment, what happens if that person 1 is in a good, bad, indifferent, suicidal mood? How do you account for the variations in peoples emotional/sensory reactions which are influenced by external factors out of your control? Not to mention, how do you asses track recognition into this formula?? Chemicals, booze, lighting, etc... the possibilities are endless...

Eventually, if this is carries throuogh somehow, you will find a party where every single track that they play you will enjoy to death.. (Wow, I'm definitely looking forward to that one, it has never happened).
A party where everyone is having near-orgasms with every track and could not be more content in that period of time. Something to look forward to!!! Not to mention the type of chicks that will be there!!! (if any of course) oouuuuuuffff!!!! now that's an incentive!!!!!

PEACE!!!!!

This is a piece from another thread entitled "no dj party" which evolved into something rather interesting. It is about an automatic trance party defined in terms of measurements of human emotions and physical observations.
