will u attend a party with no dj's whatsoever?
think of a party with music pumping being played (all premixed prefectly) with titles of the tracks flashing on a screen at each change over to let you know what's playing... nothing playing "out of time" - meaning - no morning music at night, no night music in the morning....
all happening from a big hard drive with losts of space for original wav files to be played that someone (or something) has predone.
would u come?

no Ego explodig on stage.......
no hassle around the decks DJ's getting on and off...
no stops what so ever.......
no fuck ups.......
BUT...no one to read the audiance!!!!
still i would like that...i think it will give a weird new vibe in some ways.....weird=good.... IM IN.

ill go...
personaly... for me its the music and the vibes.
as long as the set is good i dont care from where its comming from.
i've been in such a party with 'no names' but it was a small gathering and i had a great time...
i dont know if it can work for big events but for small parties with ppl with an open-mind... works very good.

sign me up....
i like the idea of knowing what i'm dancing to + the visuals would be in perfect sync with the music and create a multi-sensual effect.
u eliminate human error, but-
i enjoy the mishaps sometimes... especially the recoveries

I'd like to know how it goes. Though having a pre-recorded mix playing out of a boombox sounds a bit too robotic and soulless, kind of like those Clear Channel radio stations without any DJs, just a mega-CD changer playing pre-programmed mixes day and night. I dig the charisma and magic of a live DJ reading the crowd, picking tracks on the spot, with a few wicked surprises up his sleeve. Am I living in the past?

Surrender - maybe I can upgrade your suggestion. Imo there should be a DJ since the flow and track choice does play a lot in this game... But what if in that certain party the DJ will be hidden from the crowd - no DJ stand ( but can observe the party ofcourse )

it sounds too disco, or like a radio station... The DJ needs too read the crowd for sure, because if you are playing 'killer' music but the people are not dancing, it will not work  .... An perhaps most of the people i know like to see the artists while playing or mixing , to see his emotions and gestures, i think is really an interactive feedback between the artist and the crowd. If you dont have this i personally think the party will suck  for me it makes no sense, its too robotic...maybe in the future some energy detection systems can be implemented to read the people's energy and play the apropiate music at the right time  but looks like we will have to wait a little bit for that to be used
....come on Surrender either learn to mix properly or pay a descent DJ ..... i can go if u pay the expenses hehehehe

i dont know about that but i think i never focused on the dj...
i like him there but ill join happily to a party without one.
and Yuli... i have a better idea,
how about the dj walks descised among the crowd with a remot control and that way he can enjoy the party and change tracks
oh, and we can add a little game "find the dj" - the one who find him gets a free drinks all night long.
the israelis between us can agree that bringing big names like... lets say Astrix ( ) drow 'faces'... so ppl who wants to enjoy Astrix's set in a party can do that without watching astrix's fine ass... and, no 'faces'.
so what will it be? robotica? or 'Jakos'?

great idea ! sounds cool. lately i've seen so many djs playing the wrong track at the wrong time, playing "beat-catch", and doing such a poor mixing that a pre-recorded megamix would do much better. |

I dont like the idea. why?
- bcuz i'm a dj and dont like the idea of being another occupation replaced by a machine.
- bcuz if all music is pre programmed u still have music which reflects the musical editior's taste and how does that differ from a dj? non - u'll just have one man's taste all night....)
- bcuz if all music is pre programmed u lose the dj's advantage of being connected to the vibe of the dancefloor.
- bcuz u'd have a hell of a time promoting an event like this (imagine the flyer....)
- and bcuz we all know how reliable computers are....

I’ve been at a few small private parties, where the music was premixed by various DJ’s for the occation – with morning sets, dark progressive, dark full on etc.
