im feeling pity for x-noise.... people are being too harsh.. I dont like full on or whatever released in those type of compilations, but its pretty harsh to say that nobody will remember their music in 4 years...

respect people

Aaw.. Sorry if it was not clear.. It was just an allegory

I ask about being a producer to know what angle you come from...I remember now that you are an ambient DJ, no?

Ehmm yes I "am" but let's say it quick, I need many improvements before telling "dj"

But as you mention the word ambient, let's take some examples :

- Ott remixing Hallucinogen : From Psytrance to Psydub

- EkKo (Interchill records) being remixed by various artists on a double-CD compilation : from Live World music to Electronic Down Tempo

- The groOve Corporation : remixing reggae, soul, funk songs into ElektroDub

- and so on..

Here we have very personal re-interpretations, as you say "artistic identity" being put in some deep re-works of the original tracks/songs..

This statement is engaging me only, Sherlock, don't pay more attention to it Btw it's not four years (my mistake) but seven.. And I'm not dealing with their music but only with this remix. Not the same !

I rekon the Shpongle remix CD is a good example of what happens when it doesn't go so right...the music was excellent anyway so faced with the challenge of making it different and better it must have been hard... in the end the CD was a bit of a let down because I think it was such a challenge...Prometheus' track however for me was the high point...but I think it demonstrates how not to do it...

in the case of X-Noize they produce a track that the dancefloor's of 2005 will love in the same way as we did when the Delta came out with their orginal track....

If the DJ has the choice of playing the 2005 cover with the "fat style" or the original from 1997 I think the choice should be obvious. If you think X-Noize's remake will fare better then I'd say that's fairly symptomatic of the disconnection between DJ and dancer, which is a very common problem in this scene.

I finally heard it and wow, terrible what they've done to the old classic. It should have been kept for the artist's live sets and some internet distribution and that is it.

So, did X-Noise use any source material from the original "As a Child..."? Sounds like they did a remake, rather than a remix (which supposedly uses the original tracks)

Did The Delta clear the "As child..." vocal sample from the movie production company? Is it theirs to arbitrate? I doubt it.

How many tracks have the sample "Mutation...It is the key to our evolution..."?

I've only heard the Saiko sounds clip, yes there's an hommage to the original Delta track but it's got plenty of its own bells and whistles too.

I was expecting worse.

The bassline is fat.

The only thing I don't like about this remake is the annoying guitar thing that goes on 'n off all the time.

Other than that it could have been sick.

Reading this thread once again shows to me how many pretencious wankers there are in the psy scene. I love the original, and i don't really like the remix. But, there are plenty of people who do and I this track is sure to keep the dancefloors busy for the next few months. If The Delta gave permission to release it, then how can people have a problem with it? Also some people mentioned morals, what the hell is that all about?

The Delta track may be a classic, but it is not some kind of holy piece of music, that people should not dare to remix. Remixing old classic tracks has been happening in the whole electronic music scene for decades.

Pretentious Wanker is my middle name, and I am proud of it...

but seriously now - everyone is entitled for opinion. That is everyones right. So why do u call names ( and pretty shitty ones ) ppl that don't stand in line with your way of thought? not nice madpup           A man with a "master plan" is often a woman

Yuli...you are entitled to your opinion for sure, I was commenting on the things said about X-Noise themselves, who i do not think deserve having real harsh things commented about them. Read the thread again, and tell me if those comments don't go ridiculously over the top.
