Oh god, I'm so senile!
I meant Anti - label manager of Dpiral Trax and not Antix.
hehe

Anti gives amazing sets as a dj and yet is not a producer.           Majority is never right!

ok Detox, for u only (well, for logic mind also):

Dj Adis from Sweden, very impressive Dj, dont make music, signed on Digital Structures.
Dj Cosmix - one of the legend Trance Djs, did only very few tunes in 10 years he Dj. He came from Return To The Source party org group. u should check their history to get what they are.
Dj Borris - with no doubt best Israely Dj, never did a track. been USTA/DOMO Dj.
Dj Sid Shanti - another Psy Trance legend, same story about producing.
Dj Sam - same. Chaishop man.
Dj Ryan Halifax - released a EP now, but Dj for a years and very very impressive. Worked with several llabels, not own any of them.
Dj Constance Journey - Denmark Female Dj, quite famous in progressive area, didnt make a track. Connected to Iboga Rec.
Dj Axel - possible best and most respected Dj in Trance movement ever, did maximum 3 trax in11 years he is behind the decks. Spirit Zone oldest and best Dj.
Dj Alex - Alex Ligowsky also very known Dj and ex Nova Tekk A&R (nowdays he work for House label Millenium Rec), also released a track or two and both this year but behind the turntables he is about 8 years.
Dj Dimitry - ?? i think never released a track and one of the best full on performers.

and list can be continued if u want. hope u got the point

What i tried to say is that Anti is a major trance figure in our scene and one of the best label owners around and that someone doesnt have to be a producer in order to be a good dj (neither has to be a label owner ofcourse).I just got misunderstood

Also about Dimitri Nakov that Zombi mentioned he is except of one of the greatest full on djs around and a good producer and has produced many tracks. He is one of the tree member of GBU with many releases and an album coming soon on Solstice,he is collaborating with Atomic Pulse on their SOS project with some releases and an album coming soon on Spectrum Music,he has produced some tracks alone with Dado like Synthetic-Icy and has also producer a track for Twisted Records which if i remember correctly is DSP-Have a good time all the time.
And many more releases that for sure i cannot remember at the moment.

if i were a dj, i would never take money for playing.
all this money buisness shouldn't be a part of the pure trance expiriece both for the party people, the dj's and the organisers.
an ideal party should cost 0-30 nis just to cover up expenses.
everything is of course IMHO.

Utopia, Gilad. Djs need to eat, , pay rent and buy more music (or pay for the internet connection )

Maybe we should get back to the days that the DJs and organizers were the same ppl, hah? This way the whole issue would be solved.

I think DJs should be paid no matter what. For sure if they are bigger known names they can ask for more.           Please REMOVE my cellphone number from any SMS spam list you may have. Thanks.

well, i was talking about myself. i don't have to buy my own food or pay for my internet yet.
also, i'm saying that a dj is different than an artist. an artist should spend most of his time on making music. i believe that for serious producers music is a full time job.
with dj's it's different. it is very possible to work and be a dj too since you play on weekends.

in theory yes. but lets take an example that I come from Finland to play at you parties in Israel. The party is saturday night and I play at 5am. How do you think I'm able to wake up on monday morning after parties and flight back to finland and having sleep for like two hours? of course it's possible but don't underestimate djs please because I produce music at the same time and go to work and dj so there ain't much free time for me either, though I'm not pro musician

m8 , there are a few sides to this coin.

IMO , regarding the way you put it , the - so called "dj" should get an appreciation with money , a lot of money...

but ! [ a big "but" ]
lets take a minute and take a peep into the artist's world, a decent artist (im not talking about the allstars, im talking about the average ones) usually gets a minimal payment for playing *his own creations* at a party [about 1500 nis at israel (maximum)]

commonly , dj's demand here about the same price more or less...

now let me ask u a question...why do u think that a guy that estimated by the amount and quality of music that he posesses should demand more then an artist that dedicates a countless hours and time of thinking and working on his creations just that u could enjoy them ?

IMO dj's should be satisfied just from playing the music they like and watching the crowd enjoyes dancing it !

the nominal amount of payment should be given to a dj .           ..:: Let the MUSIC guide u in a world of COLOR ::..

You got a point here, but a live set and a dj set are not the same thing.
DJing is an art by itself, and it's not easier than composing.
