suril, what you said, while being correct, is irrellevent to the subject at hand. what we're dealing here is the supposition that mainstream media tends to either make an extreme case against trance with the premise of it being "drug music" fit for junkies and drug dealers, or in another case, taking it to extremes about the piracy case, manifested so well by eyal barkan.

Rejection is a form of hate.
I live in Los-Angeles , and thanks to technolegy I can see Israeli tv (some of it). I saw channel 1 news 1 month ago, which showed the "Israeli Trance Scene". All I saw was drugs people throwing up, and cops talking shit.
I got used to the idea that the Israeli media only shows the worst of everything, but thats only music and it sure does not the Israeli trance scene.The media should either show the good and bad of the trance scene and let people decide what they think, or don't show anything. |

if it's about the way you're being covered... the drug-issue... here in belgium that won't be a problem, there are to many alternative scenes that display a simular behaviour (maybe less open and less hallucinogenics), but they're there.
There have been camera teams of various programs that have asked us directly and both indirectly (even with hidden camera) to film at parties, so far we (the belgian scene as a whole) have been able to keep anything from being broadcasted... when we see a camera at a party, we ask what they're doing... if they don't have the right answer, we ask them to leave...

because, if you look at belgian television, you'll see sensation-hungry camera crews going being all limits to bring shocking, exposing shows ....
you can edit a movie in two ways: for a spectacle, and for information ...
if i know that the bbc is doing a docu on goa-trance, and wants some footage, they'd probably be welcome, but with belgian tv ? never!

trance is happy music, for happy people (with or without drugs), like you all said it's all about being positive... and then, you've got the media.... what they after, what is evil, bad, wrong, heartbreakin stories.... you wanna get rating... you need a war to cover, or some disaster somewhere! that's the way it goes. but keep that in mind, you'd mentioned elvis, the beatles and others, well maybe it's a sign that the scene is ment for greatness.... time will tell!

just wanted to say that infected were live today on Galatz. and that's national (and one of the more popular) radio stations.

Imagine then my situation , dear fellows!!! I am a neurosurgeon and also Trance DJ. Imagine how people see this...
I am really upset because people always think I like trance because of drugs and things like that. it is a shame, but I will keep working hard and no matter what people say or think, trance will always be a part of my soul. Cheers!!! |

i dont know what are you asking for?
you want the midia to expose trance as a culture for itself and not as a "drug culture"?
all of us knows that it almost impossibale...
think about it...
they want hot stuff... if they are looking for something it will be "a bunch of ppl on drugs were arrested by our great officers"
and still, if you want them to show the parties - they will find drugs!! but they dont know that the drugs are everywere, the resson of drug using is not the trance, its because ppl wanna use it (and i have no problem with that )
so what do you want the midia to show?
the artists? the organizers? the parties? the music?
the ppl? - what?
and for the record, i saw some nice shuts to expose trance like it is.
if you saw the film about "peace and love production" then thats what im talking about... although it was a sad story, it was with some possitive light...
and also Astral production (i think it was them) on chanel 6 (kids... hehe ) many years ago... they were talking about that no radio station wanted to hear them or something like that.... so they playd over there... very good! |

check the article i posted here (ha'aretz). it shows the scene in a different light (differnt than the usual articles).
it turned the secret parties, from a drug thing to a kind of misterious thing. when you search for a party it is a part of the expirience.
anyway, as long as no reporter will do a full and deep article about the scene, by expirience rather by older knowladge, i guess they won't understand what's really happening.

I want them to tell the truth.
When you see a report about an hip hop party do you say how many people were busted for the possession of weed? I am 100% sure that if you search or test people there you will find out that some of them smoked something. When you see a report about a trance party the first thing you see is someone on drugs, even if he is the only one to take drugs the media will only show him and will link the entire party and the scene to drugs.
If the media choses to show something at least show how popular trance (electronic music) is in Israel, how Israeli trance artists are loved by many around the world (for their music not drugs), how many records an artist sold, basically like any other genere of music in Israel. |
