Well first of all I understand there are two kind of dark psy trance, the goa influenced one and the hardcore influenced one.
I was just wondering if there is a relation between this subgenres and the iconography labels and artist use???
For example, ocelots last album cover was using some desert element resempling a peyote trip, but then there are some labels and artist like Skunks of Satan or HOrror place that use more "evil or terrorific" iconography, do you fell music is somehow related to the images they use?
why the need to use this kind of iconography?
I think is just trying to say "i'm so wicked and evil cause i hear this music" "this is the music of hell" maybe they heard too much Iron maiden when they were young.

dark music is for evil people. hard repetitive beats and over use of acid brings out the devil generally in most people. thats what label managers seem to believe . i think they are tapping into the devil worshiping crowd of the psy scene and the minuscule sale of cd's is somehow representative of that . i dont like this demonic interpretation of the entire dark psy genre and totally cannot relate to these images that they trying to connect with this music. if labels want to ensure a long run they need to change their vision and ideology and start marketing this music in a more friendly manner.

To make an impression, to vent frustration, to create controversy that eventually makes people that are not into this kind of music, curious about what it could sound like.
Seems to be working I'd say, although, having been intrigued my self, I will not check out any more trance CDs with that kind of art on them, cause from past experience, I have a good idea about the content and would rather spend time checking out other CDs that have a much better chance of having music that I even remotely, like.

One more thing, if you wanna throw devil horns, do it holding a guitar, preferably something that resembles Dimebag's (RIP).

its for the same effect that cheesy ass metal bands like motley crew use to have satan symbols on their music videos...have to add shock value because the music can't stand on its own.
