I agree with you Mr. Demi point by point. I am not arguing with you I am just trying to find a solution to what seems your problem with your situation in your area. I mean do bring acid to the party It will make it psychedelic. Also do outdoor parties and don't use clubs. Go til the morning and find the afterparty. It feels I am stopping or something

I sure try to do that. I mean I have a couple of outdoor locations lined up already around my state with the right ingredient to start the fungus funk for a long beautiful weekend. Now it is not the time to be outdoors, though... It is time to get together and gather like minded ppl as we cycle with the land, air and water of the place we live.

Don't know it feels as you are patronizing me (maybe I am wrong) and maybe I have been always a psychedelic, you just don't see it.

Much love to you! and good luck in your ventures. I will sure help you if I am around your world.

I was talking about this to someone at a party this weekend. There are a couple of reasons why its not as popular.

1. For one thing since the mid 1800's there has been an ongoing effort to "dumb down America" just look at American public education systems. Our powers that be are trying to dumb America down so that we're easier to control. Check out "America's secret Establishment" by Antony C Sutton to see what im talking about. This also includes the music and entertainment industry as well. witch brings me to my second point...

2. Music is marketed completely differently here then anywhere else. Here in the states we have mainstream music, pop music if you will that dominates the music industry as a whole and monopolizes above every style of music. Just turn on American MTV and American radio to see what i mean. Here we have corportations like Clear Channel that owns most all the radio stations and makes sure that all they play is pop music. Not psy trance. All american mtv plays here is hiphop and Justin Timberlake. You dont even hear electronic music. In Israel Infected Mushroom won an MTV music award there so its totally different. Pop music all about bling blinging, making money, driving fast cars and sex. psy trance goes away from that kind of materialism and thus people dont buy into it as much.

3. I think the powers that be dont want it to be popular beacuse it opens people's minds, allows them to think differently and independently. The big corporations dont like that because it makes us harder to market to and more aware of whats really going on. That makes us harder to control and they dont like that.

4. New litigation just passed (the rave act aka amber alert act) makes it harder for electronic music promoters to feel safe doing events of any kind. The tarnish of the rave scene (rave is now a 4 letter word here) has affected all styles of electronic music even though you never see a candy raver e puddle at most American psy events.

5. The powers that be also make more money from cocaine, alcohol and heroin that gets imported into this country and not psychedelics. It appears as though they want to promote music that people like to snort lines, drink and shoot up to rather then trip out and dance to. This is just a theory of mine but if you study the American drug trade compared to the music that is marketed hardcore here it makes sence.

6. America's wide lands and spread out cultures make it harder as well. The biggest scenes here are NYC, Boston, Philly, Texas, SF, LA and the Northwest. Miami is picking things up but the midwest has a trancer far and few inbetween.

7. Many clubs are taking a hit right now all around. So are record labels. The dropping economy has made it harder to keep bar tabs high, record sales above par and door sales profits. Thus many clubs and labels are going under. This affects all styles of electronic music but this affects the trance scene as well because club owners only want what sells and what is popular. They have to keep their establishment above water so they book booty house and hip hop djs because its a safer business decision for them.

The truth is that Americans LOVE psy trance! the awareness is not there. The deomgraphic is however and it all boils down to exposure. I know so many people that hear the music and they're like "what is this?? i want more!!" In SF they have radio stations like Thump radio that play psy as well as a diverse international market to appreciate it. If more radio stations played it and exposed more people it would be more popular. In other countries they have stations dedicated to psy trance not to mention established pirate radio stations that keep the underground alive. More exposure = a larger scene.

subtle distortion ... i have to totally agree with you no matter what u on... and if thats the way its gotta be then everybody on this planet should be on it too... but then again thats why they wanna ban these events and gatherings ... they wanna fool the people all the time... "there's a hole in the bucket phenomena"... stay enlightened brother... and spread the love (info) as always.

Hi psyman
IMHO I would just give up on the Miami club scene, unless we start throwing parties with progressive psy that blends with the house and progressive scene here in Miami. I love the new music from labels like Iboga, Digital Structures etc, but as of now I do not have the money to bring them. So I might start looking for a good promoter and investors... but then I get more into the economics than into the spirit. And we know it is a tough business out there.

As I said elsewhere, wait until our tropical land chills, the mosquitos sleep and the summer tropical rains desintegrate Then we can travel North and gather the ppl we know.

This is what I think, but I am open to other suggestions

Why is psytrance so slow?

The main reason is no exposure, many people don't even know this kind of music exists.

Maby if "IFC" (the independent film chanel) will brodcast psy movies like "karahana" people will get to know the music.
