In general i think electronic music is dieing a rather slow death in the states overall. There really is no new blood coming in, 16yo kid in highschool doesnt think electronic music is cool, that was 6 or 7 years ago. Metal/emo/indy is what is cool now or what their older brother in college is listening too. I imagine thats a much different story in israel or places with a huge psy scene.

With expirience in both the Israeli and US psy scenes I have to say that it might not be such a bad thing that electronic music is not trendy in the States. In Israel the popularity of psytrance has had detrimental effects to the partys and the scene as well. Talk to any Israeli who has been in the scene for quite some time and they will tell you of the decline of the partys. If a party is posted on Isratrance in Israel there is sure to be some shady individuals showing up. We call them Arrsim and they literaly ruin the vibe at a party. And I am not trying to say good parties do not happen is Israel they are just forced to be spread simply by word of mouth from friend to friend. I have yet to go to a party in the states and meet shady individuals. In my opinion the lack of popularity in the States leads to a better and more pure underground scene. This type of vibe is hard to find in my places were psytrance has become more and more popular. Take the example of Goa... Furthermore In Israel if one throws a decently large 3 day festival the police will be there constantly for all three days!! Personaly I enjoy my parties and festivals police free!!

BOOM!!

yes i had the same thing happen to me in southAfrica that happened to mubali, they had no clue about us.which i thought was a good thing because they didn't know what to expect but then again they wouldn't of expected what i delivered anyway.
Lets don't rush a good thing.

As for the AUM, I do know that mexico and canada are a part of the northAmerican union
and AUM plans to add them as it goes.We have already taken on a lot and it will take time. Not many USA crew's stepped up to the plate to exercise the vision, so I'm sure
in time our neighbors will become more active.

The northAmerican union has more crews
than most of the world together but we just have not yet came together as one.We are to busy trying to out do each other. This is one reason why we are not yet noticed.we should come together first before we ask why we aren't super noticed to the world of psy.

The USA was a big part of the birthing process of this movement 30 some years ago and still is,Sshhhh lets keep it our secret.

I would have to agree with ScarletFire about some of the perils of popularity which the US scene has so far been spared....

India is a good case in point -- their parties always have to pay off the cops, the more commercial (and therefore larger) parties have way too many sexually agressive drunken guys harassing the girls (my personal experience!) and tends to produce an overwhelming and negative event if everyone isn't arrested by the cops (re: Pune party a few weeks ago! 250 people in jail, national news coverage that was basically very negative.)

"Underground parties" (and by this I mean -- smaller non-commercial parties with many fewer people thrown without a lot of money and very little advertising) have been the ones that I have had the best time at wherever I have been.

Of course this opens a can of definitional worms about growth, optimal party size, vibe, "appropriate attendees", etc. which are all on some level taste, but let me just contribute a quote from an environmentalist:

"Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell"

Personally I advocate not comparing the US's scene to anyone else's, making music and parties that you love and be satisfied. If it grows organically, great. If not, why should it ?
