dont be shalow, that's not the reason why he is famous, he´s famous because he created art, and i was just writing about the process itself, there is nothing philosophical about it.

There are many great artists who aren't famous, because they have decided not to be and are happy just creating what they do for themselves. That advert (not seen it btw) is one reason why he is famous - it is him capitalising on the fact that many people know of him through his art, and therefore increasing the number of people who know his name. "Who's that guy with the wierd moustache in the chocolate ad?" "That's Dali, the artist, he's really famous". If he was solely all about the art, do you really think he would have done the ad? I mean, it's not like he ever needed the money, surely.

Like in most things, there is no absolut truth. Dali yes he was one artist, and yes he thrived for fame and recogniton, his art itself was provocative. But it all started by the relation between him and his art plan, before his first brush stroke, before he became famous.
And that moment in itself was what "snowballed" him into that youtube commercial.
In other words, it was his intention from the beginning.
That's what i was aiming at, and its bit offtopic already.
Art is comunication and it all depends on what you want to "say", and what you expect the reactions will be, or.. you dont expect nothing and just do it for the uncontrolable need to comunicate. |
