Why exactly is it that we don't hear any new music that resembles the 1995-99 stuff?

If I would run a label I would sure as hell play some goldies to my signed artists and ask them to produce similar tracks every now and then. Yada yada there's Filteria and a few others but anyways I would love to hear some of the "big" artists going back to the roots every now and then. Should be bloody awesome

maybe because its a different time from then. less people hear that sub genre of trance. the labels don't want to release that kind of music?
or no one really likes to produce that kind of stuff?

Didn't you learn anything from Economy classes? They will push you the new boring useless and soul less neo geo porno full-on for the same reason they develop new and powerful multi Giga Hertz'd PC. Cause it's always easier to cover lack of inspiration and novelty with nice looking package.

Music progresses. If it didn't, I'dont think we'd be sitting here listening to psy/goa because after 15+ years of it, we'd be shit bored of hearing the same thing. Take a look at classical for example. It's gone through medieval, renaissance, baroque, romantic, classical, and modern classical. Whether you like todays sound or not, its gotta change.

It's missing a well defined melody.
Ananda Shake had some very melodic stuff in their album but imo if anyone else tries to pull off a similar thing, it will not work. |

Psytrance had it's old days when freaks and drug users were joining the scene, now drug users number grow to 95% of psytrance listeners (sorry but even on this forum ppl out of reality from chemicals, clearly seen from text they type).
Drug users want speed music (150+ bpm) cheap groove, cheap melodies, repetitive stuff to make it easy for their complex brains (dunno if they can deal with old Koxbox or Hallucinogen). Ppl love cheesy, non complex and repetitive music. Good example is why ppl like Infected Mushroom's Classical Mushroom more than The Gathering which is gold album imho? It is way cheesier and simplier to mind.
Future of your label, you will join Goa labels (2 of them online now). You will sell 500 copies, after couple of releases you will understand that your outcome is way higher than income label will die.
Drugs = quick non complex music (since your imagination is wide when u use drugs you don't even need complex melodies to hallucinate what normal ppl would never.
Psytrance = made of 95% chemicals.
No progress imho, just degradation of listeners. |

Well Classical music evolved from one generation of genious composers to another. It has moved from Bach / Hendel in 17th century to Mozart / Beethoven in 18th century to Rachmaninoff / Bizet / Chachaturian / Debussi / Ravel / Chopin and more in 19th century and heeps of others in 20th century.
I would love to hear about comparisons of same quality between lets say Juno Reaktor / Hallucinogen / Total Eclipse / Prana to what we have today - someone NEW to the scene and groundbreaking from lets say last 3 years.

I'd mention Sensient. Ok not the same class and lacks in the melodies department but i think he brings lots of novelty into psy trance nowadays.
