why ppl listen to trance at all ?
so noisey and monotonic and its all sound the same.
how would you answer to someone that asked you this qustion? my answer would be that u have to get in into it to understand.

Why do we listen to Progressive Trance?
Progressive Trance is real nice just to have playing at home, chilling under influence 
I do agree that it's not the best music for dancing, but I don't dance much anyway.

Any style can be great as long as it has a serious psychedelic feeling...I don't mind good prog like Atmos at all in fact he was one of the only dancefloor music still on the psychedelic side, but the other kind shake your booty prog does not effect my hearth at all... So it all depends on sounds because the beat is there to dance to being, prog, fullon, chillout as long as it's psychedelic we dance!

i had the same feeling when prog got into outdoor parties.. but hey , its just not the right place , it was fuckn great @ sakaya mondays , its always great in maxim club thursdays ... looks its music for mid week not friday karahana... u know.. chillout abit have beer see some chix  for sure on friday bush party i rather to hear that as begining set or goodbye set (hey dont blame me that the floor is getting empty with 135 bpm , as long its not 3rd empire event , and that sounds realy super boring , i mean , that what i call close mind.. have only one sub-genre parties??? this can never be too good for me.. im all about diversity)
one more thingo.. it seems peaple less then 22 or 23 wont connect to this slwer vibes until few years later... need patience for prog thats sure..

Which littraly means no prog what so ever in London based psy-trance parties innit ?! 
After all most parties close @ 6 sometime 7 or 8 ( not including squat parties which i play progressive @ a fair amount of them but most pepole there just want to get hammered with 140+ bpms on noise ) saying all this our little progressive scene is up & alive!  so it showes people do want to have it in parties... aaaight

Well i personally play progressive and night full on...
And i have to repeat what some people said is about the groove and so on....If you dont like it.. tough
The problem is people playing bad and boring progressive and that also happens with full on..
Because there's soo many london guys here, i have to say something... I have been thinking if i should have bashed in the UK forum but... here it goes..
I got hooked to progressive back home (portugal) the typical parties on a thursday night in my city and the ocasional outdoor with just progressive (flow rec...). and in London in 5 years i never heard progressive nor went to a party because the line ups are generally shite or they play billie jean the worst song from Minilogue i have to say...
The other day on my birthday i went to a automatic vs iboga rec. party and honesty it sucked, boring djs .... honestly i soo love their stuff (iboga/automatic) they must have been playing at 140 bpm and just the usual crossfade, came on play with the decks make love to the freakiin shit......
If you are in london go to minimal - electro parties... much better

Hey Paulo,
I agree on most of what you're saying, except some points...
I do believe and know there are some proper progressive parties in London, to name a few,
Dream Temple parties are usualy very good ( not all dj's are to my liking but in genera;... ) also Atlantis are big favs of mine with usualy a very nice progrssive / minimal room ( small rooms but good quality ) and then you have the odd others which are trying to do nice stuff...
We did a party not long ago with all the Plusquam guys and didn't get many people so kindda hold us back from putting another night alone...
Now also Antiworld will start to showcase progressive in their last indoor festival and of course a full prog stage @ 070707.
Regarding the minimal and electro parties i must agree i find them much better quality then most psy parties in town.. times are changing and so does music taste
Regarding the dj's its a valid point indeed, most are waiting for an 8min track to finish and mix in the last 20sec, if they beat match they should get a meddal! hehe... thats why i prefer seeing/playing minimal and gone back to some real vinyl addiction days.. me happy
looking forward to your parties, come check our's as well... it's small friendly and with great music ( or at least we think... )

all this talk about Prog not being able to dance too ........
and not being appropriate for outdoor parties......
and for dancing "booty" style.........
i find this as horribly inaccurate.....
im sure what it is, is that music like Beckers or ryan halifax or DNox is what some people confuse the whole prog genre with.....
i saw this being referenced earlier by an artist as well....that it shouldnt be for outdoor.....i was mildly surprised to see that........(of course it was a dark artist) so he obviously cant see the light 
lets not confuse 150bpms of distortion with "good quality" dance music..... a good artist is not measured by the amount of BPM.'s
it is the quality of the buildup, bass lines, rippin pads, beats, kickdrums.......many things.
OBVIOUSLY you guyz that are making these comments have not been to a GOOD prog party.....and the music you are referencing is the housy side of prog.
atmos, sonkite, beat bizarre, logic bomb, sun control species, sensient and many others is not "booty shaking" music......
for me its the music that allows me to dance and groove to for hours and hours on end.....
btw.........these artists.........they dont empty out the dancefloor......
for those who have not enjoyed these artists the way i have.........maybe should check out these musicians............
better yet.....
go see them play live....

heh .. well tsabeat here got sattel battel project as well.. thats `real` morning psy happy music .. dont say silly things like he dont see the light u ignorant .. i agree with him .. i like prog , its great dance music but there is a time (opening set , closing afternoon set) and of course clubs for shaking ur booty .. i said before here .. its great music , great production , deep groove etc etc .. but .. just imagine .. outdoor party , full freaks acid blast scene with prog playing .. at 3 in the morning (or fullon happy israeli trance for that matter) .. sounds like a good idea ? be honest .. dont diss or be overy defensive .. be real ..
again .. to answer the original question .. why do ppl like it ? .. coz its good music
ideal party situation for me : begin with zenon recs stuff , some cujrious one etc .. then the heavy dark killah mubali , derango , traskel shite , then morning time some , gow , phyx , phatmatix , hyper frequencies etc , then wind up with froggacult and iboga recs stuff . and then ultimae chill stuff .. a timeslot for every genre and all genres in their timelsot

it seems as if your the one who is making a statement out of ignorance, because you took my statement out of context. (sounds like your the one who is overly defensive) relax....
And to answer your question..........YES
yes i can see blasting good PROG at 3 am in the morning....sounds like an incredible idea to me.

befor 6-8 years we call it psy trance
they r psy. good prog came 4 night or sunset in a student party or some bar!! not out door with head full of mushroom & ofcours i mean the house kind!(that what is playing today in the partys!) 10 years ago there some prog comming out of england, very psy & sound like goa. most pepole then didnt like it 4 some reasan but today u can pot club trance & the same pepole that didnt like 10 years ago just now so the "light" & like it today!! hahah so pls dont give ppl house, club or prog that is not psy, in psy partys !!
is the same of someone that like heavy metal and go 2 a rock consert. its a matter of tast but there r prog&full on that is not psy and 4 me there place is in a sterio of 16 years old or 30+ that dont know what is real psy trance (there r a lot of ppl how think that club or house is psy trance!)

sure when first vibrasphere album was out that was psytrance for me or psy progressive if you like it that way ... hux flux and logic bomb are psy also aldo i know people that call 2 album of hux flux or logic bomb 2nd progressive trance ... not all psy needs to be ...in yer face motherfucker ...
but todays atmos or son kite are club "booty shaking" music...not for trance party not for open air festivals
great for ibiza ...
i was this summer on festival where beat bizarre and sensient where most psy acts dispite the fact that there where bunch of full on that sounds like (acid)dance 2 me ...

there some good prog today the psy kind and some good full on , not the cheasy one.
example - i taken my girl friend 4 a party, 3 empair 4 her 1 trance party experiance. she tell me that she know the prog music from disco & house party & she had a nice time and gigy all night.
after 1 week i take her 2 a "real" psy trance party with no prog at all. then she tell me that she neaver heard this kind of music back home (where she come from they dont have psy partys) we had a good time and dancing into trance . my point is that prog today is very house and the sound is like disco style so next time i wanna hear prog i go 2 a house party.
