Hahahaha listen at yerself man... Thats so not true, you might think that its matter of being mature... but the truth isn that its only matter of taste, i have friends, lots of them who r from 13 to 17 and love progessive, and electro, and minimal... but they also like dark-psy, so yer theory about age its bulls**t man... I think that its only matter of taste, nothing else and as everything there is good prog and bad prog, such as there is good fullon and bad fullon, good dark-psy and bad dark-psy...

Generally for me the ideal party is ripping psytrance at night and then progressive in the day - it should slow down to prog somewhere about lunchtime. Depends what mood i'm in and how much of the full om stuff I've heard from the night before as to what time i would prefer this change occur... I think after 10 hours or so of the same style a change is gratefully received. But for me it definitely should be psy trance on a saturday night... theres something about that 140+ bpm.. keeps me keen.. didn't someone once say this was a sacred tempo ? Goa trance was always quite fast, if not faster |

Goa trance was(is) trance a real trance music and it was fast , full with energy and it was music for mind (and soul of course ) ... today's full on is acid disco dance ...it has only entertaining dimension while goa and prog has that psychedelic abstract dimension that full on lacks with
so better mystic atmosferic abstract prog . than faster
less minimal israeli disco music with cheesey acid
lines ...

A : coz it kicks ass , so nice and groovy and more often than not there seems to be a quantum leap in sound (production) as compared to fullon or spl dark stuff , having said that , there is a time when itl work good only , before a party begins , evenng time .. or when its winding up and ppl wanna relax and slow groove , smoke etc (afternoon) and of course in clubs .
but its good music , a lot of it is really really nice , perfect stranger , Xibalba etc .. chk it out
good thread , we can clear some misconceptions about prog in this thread .. y do i feel its getting into a fullon vs dark vs prog here ? hmmm

first of all thanks 4 the explan, secend there r good prog like ticon,spirallians,chimicAL that r very psy and melow!! but most of the prog is not psy & sound like house (try mushroom in a house party i sure u will have kick ass time hahahaha)
the psy prog is very nice day time and its a matter of taste (sunset) & 4 try 2 put it as sex how would it be on tech-trance , swami ? its only a matter of tast and the full on today is shit but i dont here any one playing nuron compost in the mornning (and its a shame such good psy trance and most pepole dont like)

Tehc-trance have a great baseline also. Tech-trance its much more dark and gothic...
Progressive trance become more like house and club-trance, it's different than psytrance. While no doubt some are really good, most of the progressive trance is pretty boring, IMO.
Dark-psy has been in the start, and there are definitely still good artists that produce a very good, innovative, twisted quality sounds. (Such as Ka-sol, Battle of the future buddhas, procs....)
There are some very good suomi artists as well, while some are just rubbish.
Full on also have is good side (some artists are pretty well)...
You can see what is my point, most psy-style have their very good side, this is why I like a bit from all the styles, just prefer more dark and twisting sounds.

It's the same as if i question, how can people dance dark tracks at 160 or even higher bpms???? Just because they like simple as that, there are people who love slow music and people who loves fast music

Why do people like progressive trance?
As someone that got caught up in progressive for a while, it used to be about clever and subtle structuring, about making a small change in the track that is a HUGE change in the groove, about not needing massive breakdowns to raise energy levels, a focus directly on groove and not on the beats that make it, and most importantly, give a place for thought instead of force-feeding the dancer with everything he/she needs. In short, it offers a different formula than full-on, and there's more variation on the basslines (how many acts like GBU use different styles of bass in the full-on scene? Be honest, it's not much).
Of course, then I found out some techno (go Richie go!) and house offer all of this and more, and are usually much more creative about it, and I got bored with the spacey/floaty/soft grooves (progressive used to be a lot darker and more mechanical in the day). Techtrance IMO offers much of the same advantages (even though the electro/house influences in that scene have grown way out of proportion as well), but it's not quite as accessible/MDMA-friendly.
As for dancing with a girl - well, my thoughts is that a psychedelic experience, whether dancing to psychedelic music or not, is first and foremost a solo experience. Want to dance/play touchy-feely with your girl? Learn salsa. Seriously, focus on dancing or focus on your woman, if you can't give one your full attention then you're probably better off doing something else.
