Well, its the post millena era, and much like everything else, trance changes too. The melody really belongs in the last mellenium i think. This time its more about the minimal sounds: percussion, genius bass arrangements and psych sounds. I guess i feel like a flowerchild from the 60's after all that faded and music changed. Even the latest melodic tracks just dont "do it" for me anymore... with the a few excpetions ofcourse eg: space cat - power on and all its fabulous remixes... i wish it was the past again and i could relive all that enlighting uplifing melody again...

dont worry bro music is the art of time, and the melody is like a pendulum going back and forth.
today not too many ppl are making real melodic psytrance, times have changed, and so we have to move on. but like i said the pendulum will return.

its not gone completely, although for many progressive trancers any hint of melody automatically makes the track a non-progressive one (I know, I've been there). Its true that today trance is much less melodic, but I think that most of the more melodic stuff I heard lately is far better than the old school tunes, since the melody doesnt control the whole flow of the track but rather becomes an equal in the general groove.

have faith...

that's why i'm always trying to say ... look at my theard at "trance is israel" (what happened to the israeli trance)

but people say that trance is getting advance and people evolve.. something like that...
i dont believe that ******

i totally agree with you. melody is one of the most important things in trance, and not only in trance in every genre of music.

Hey Sputer, why dont you just ask me to drink from the waters of the dead sea? im just kidding, I'm not saying that i dont like the new music, on the contrary, acts like Tegma, POTS, pretty much anything Scando is superb and is top notch psych music. Like i said i miss the past, not in the sense that i need diffrent music to evoke the same depth of emotion but i want it to hit me for the first time again, like it did back then only that now i retain the knowledge i collected through the years on quality of music. if anyone can undersand this poorly worded and structured reply let me know...           "On the other hand, you have different fingers."

Don't warry, the melody and the full-on will be back. Because, a good party needs this kind of music. I'm going to parties almost 10 years. Today, the minimalistic style is leading, I see this in every party I attend. When I talk with young guys, they say this is the style they prefer, not full-on. But, when I'm looking at the party in the morning, I can see only tired people, standing on sides, and sometimes also sitting in the middle of the dance floor! Where are the days when in the morning, you can't see each other because of the dust of dancing people?...
Nobody can convince me that young people today prefer this minimalistic things. Maybe they are not aware about how parties were in the past.
I don't want to tell here that the minimalistic style is good or bad, I'm just trying to tell that this style is not adequate for parties. And one more proof: all the leading big festivals in the world, are based on full-on trance. Look at Samothraki festival this summer: the best line-up I ever see in my life! And also Boom festival this summer (the line-up is not closed yet), will be full-on oriented.
So, I think the full-on is on the way back in Europe, and will be back in Israel sooner or later.

House = melodies
Techno = no melodies

Trance = the good between them

It seems some trance is merging with house (Astral, Yahel and all "Club Trance",) and some trance is merging with techno (=minimal). Also progressive seems like minimal merging with house.

I prefer trance as it was a few years ago, a techno beat with psychedelic melodies...

i guess there is enough out there for any taste.

even i, who loves the "direct sound" have problems to find tracks that really work for me. and i am absolutely sure there are enough artists with the same opinion as you.

i only read the first post . so im sorry if i repeat what someone else has already said, but i totally agree with syntheic-sadhu ..
still, what id really like to see now is something like astral/ shiva sidpao meets the beat and percussion of today, plenty of energetic beats, with melody breaks ..
can you suggest anything like that ?           paagal power ..
