Melody is still there, it's probably your fucked up ears or your drug drenched brain that can't perceive it anymore...           "Subconscious unravels at the point of death, and all time it has known erupts into a moment. As death extinguishes us, so we become it."

hey Acid, this thread is from 2 years ago... where it was the end of the minimal phase and the start of the neo-full on.... check the date mate.

i was complaining at that time, and wanted to dig it up and show to myself and others that the melodies indeed came back.

i advise you to keep the language at a respectful level.          "On the other hand, you have different fingers."

It was even there at the time you complained about it, although less than nowadays. But still, it was there, and therefore a useless complaint.

What about Bizzare Contact? It's not melodic?

The Melodies have returned - it just goes to show that melodies will always be a part of the trance scene.

I don't think the melodies have returned. Those crazy 303s of before are just as unavailable in the bass riden full-on as in prog.

I have yet to hear something recent that comes close to the melody magic of 'maia', 'atomic armadillo', spiritual healing', 'alien pump' or 'kabalah' for example.

it seems like when some people listen to trance for a long time...AND get burned out from too much charas and drugs...they fall into a depression and have a dark outlook...and then they become hostile or dispariging to melodic music...which they find uncomfortably warm or sunny....

I love real goa music....and paradise feelings it brings up...and think that minimal or 'digital death metal' a.k.a dark is no replacement...long live Goa!

I agree with ya full_on, Bizzare Contact has niiiiice melodies....

IMHO.... Fatali has this melody thing down to a T, kinda like Cosma had...
Space Cat - Power Up and its remixes, were indeed a landmark in melodious full on psy...
Shiva Shdapu - Indian Spirit... melodious masterpiece from way back when...
Exaile's melodies stick to my brain like Velcro these days.... Radio Edit, I Want Freedom... find myself humming parts of them all the time... (^_^)
I'd love to see Exaile remix Power Up and give the ol'melody another powerful twist...

but then again, my opinion is prolly useless coz of my fucked up ears an' drug drenched brain....

Well, I think that melody is slowly returning to the trance scene again. I've been to some parties with Japanese DJs and to my surprise they are bringing back the smiles to yer face.

Hope you guys have some good DJ around. Me, a lucky one.

Peace and Love.

(Please) Don't forget the likes of 'Daydreamer' and 'Shadow of the beast' from the Logical Bombers.

We all know they aided the re-invention of X-Dream's melodic legacy..

I hope you crazy kids know your history.

funny this topic about melody, i recently red same thing in a french forum where people were asking for a Goa come back because they were getting fed up with the boring current full on formulas (10 millions new tracks, hardly 10 new ideas, lots of copycats with less & less melody)

& what about Djs vs producers?
i remember meeting an old french dj involved in trance telling me that just 10 years of making dancing people was enough to start producing music...
it's not because you know how to make dancing people you'll be able to compose music snapping one's finger, it's 2 completly different things. Lots of great djs are weak music producer in electronic music (Laurent Garnier for example just realize maybe just 2 or 3 real hits)
