As some others already suggested, it's totally subjective. I hadn't planned on going into detail again on this. As some of you may have seen I tried to stop this topic from happening. Anyway, I'm so tired of all those people that say psytrance isn't evolving anymore, it's all the same etc etc. You know, there is a good solution to get rid of wankers like you: Just get out of the scene if you don't like it anymore, and stop bothering the people that still like this music for what it is. Maybe the sound of full-on has come to a bit of a stand-still, but there is still a lot to explore in this scene IMO. Melody is becoming more and more important again for instance, which I think is a good thing. A good melody can bring on a feeling of trance and if you recall this music is referred to as: psyTRANCE. Trance, get it? And I'll have you know these discussions about psytrance getting stale are sooo very old. Way back in 1998 people were starting to say the scene was going nowhere, artists were going by the same formulas etc etc. I've been a member of psynews.org before being a member of isratrance forum, and I've had loads of these discussions at psynews as well. And that was a few years back mind you. I'd just like to see the people that don't like psytrane anymore to shut up about it and if you think the scene is diminishing, go start your own psytrance group, see if you can make a difference. We'll talk again after that has happened, hehehe           "Subconscious unravels at the point of death, and all time it has known erupts into a moment. As death extinguishes us, so we become it."

Agree with acidhive.. if you cant njoy it anymore then find a music that you like! Its sooo simple! Psychedelic (and electronic music in general) is the most evolving music...
and yeap! delta - the thing is one of my favs 'old' classics (among with other stuff from delta)! And try to understand that psy is not only a lead-melody. ppl say that psy is not evolving but they re the same ppl that want the sounds of 1995-96 (the melody goa trance sounds, because they were also dark and hard psytrance sounds back then also...). If you say for example that derango or grapes are not psychedelic... then what can i say!?

I was probably at the same festival as you were..
if we're talkin about BIGFOOT.

Yep, was bigfoot - and I dont mean to come off as too harsh, as what I did like at bigfoot I did like alot, and all around had an AMAZING time.

The whole scene was great actually, just enuf people ( tho there are never enuf women) and the music of choice was techy stuff a la Midmilz and Spirallianz. Played a lotta S.A styles too, the fast, screechy acidic funky style ( which i personally love).

was a big fan of the techier/deeper stuff that was being played, and really enjoyed the 10-??ish time on Sat night, dark, techy, dirty, even my friends who used to harrash me for liking psytrance when I was really into it - got into it.

Hell, my BF who for the longest time claimed to hate the stuff, turned to me "what the? i'm dancing to trance!"

- So, what was good - was good, so sorry if I came off as being too harsh

We drove up from Detroit ( yay! the Hardest Crew!) and my buddy played a morning set which was totally different. yes it was full on ! yes he played Astrix. But it was a change! played some Protoculture,Wizzy Noise, Shanti and Electric Universe and Gataka which sounded like heaven with a beautiful sunrise, in contrast to bumchik-bumchik - Grrrr - Bumchik - bumchik - Meow. I cud tell u that the women loved it

Did he play after (I think it was?) Quiverng Virgin on Sunday morning? I liked QV's set (although still a tad too on the fullonside, but good none the less), I went up and danced to QVs set a bit,and the guy who was on after him I actually kinda really got into, and wish I could of stayed longer to dance to.

The basslines were still very repetitve, but the sounds/spaceyness going on around them I got into quite a bit. I dont think I could listen to it all the time, but for that time/setting, it did good - although, the midranges really remnided me of gay circuit-parties, (I dont mean that in a bad way), but it just gets into this 'groove' of this really repetitive sound that keeps you driving/going.

But, if your talking about Saturday morning, - it almost made me want to go home, but glad I stuck it out in the end.

I guess teh drug of choice is LSD, so the agressive music fits right in . probably?

Only done LSD once so cant really say, (and only did two half hits which lead to a pretty mellow expierence), had I been on amphetamines, then aggressive music would of been more fitting.

you know, I havnt checked him out in a 2 years now, but when I was really into psy a few years ago, his stuff always had me shaking, weird, quirky funky ass stuff.

Ok, considerng -> I really like minimal techno now, what would be a good psy-act to check out?

I recall hearing a few songs over the course of the party that had alot of elements of minimal that I like, but with the psytrance edge on it.

any suggestions/ideas?
