goblim gave good artists for tech trance, I'll just add wizzy noise to that....as for progressive I think most of the stuff digital structures releases is progressive....also like he said...son kite, ticon, reefer decree, filur, qlap and so on

but as for minimal, I think beat bizarre is very minimal, just listen to the track "out loud"...that's a real definition of minimal for me....apart from beat bizarre I'd also mention some older phony orphants tracks and mostly some iboga and plastik park stuff...that about wraps it up if you ask me           DJ Dovla | Interchill Records, Flow Records

IMO, (for what I read) still there is no scientific answer to your question. It's somehow a matter of taste.

And artists change their style, so if you say: this one is minimal, maybe in the next week they release a progressive album...

And to tekton: we define music style because this way we can find other artists we like easily. You like electronic music or psytrance? Imagine you come to a CD store and ask: I wanna buy electronic music. The chances are that you'll never get a psytrance CD, so we need a definition of style. (the same happens when you're talking to your friends [out of this forum, obviously ])

yes I know that now, but their first album is minimal, as for iboga I think they are always experimenting, they made a progressive house compilation once called mixture, now they are into full on...but most of the stuff you could hear there was minimal if you ask me...           DJ Dovla | Interchill Records, Flow Records

about the topic -
i will try sieni and explain as short and easy as its possible but without just name u names coze artists mainly dont make only one style in their life.
so lets start with litlle history, this way u will understand it better i think.
so there was Goa trance, this liquid noisy music that u know from begining of psy trance era. in 97-98 some of artists started experements with sounds and were a bit influenced by other electronic music genres, in global most of the stuff that released from that point (exept full on) more minimal, mean include less sounds per trak, mean using less channels by the producing process. pure minimal trance mean trance with as less sounds as it possible, and possible make trak with 3-4 sounds only. just right after that was found progressive style, mean dancefloor oriented more stuff (not that pure minimal or full on doesnt maked for dancefloor), mean more friendly for free of heavy drugs ppl, as the name of this music say "progressive" its not have any close form, its change all the time and come more close to progressive house (2 years ago) or deep house (now). i have to say that possible progressive full on as well, its a happy not agressive feeling and more dancey/disco elements - quirk in one word.
tech-trance its a bit another story, this music take its inspirations from techno, mean monotonic beats and same loops all trak long to make it grab u on a move, monotonic move. its doeas not have to be hard music as many ppl think, there is alot soft techno trance music also, not only midi miliz or delta.
so to sum things up - minimal trance as genre its this trax that have only few sounds during playing time, progresive not have any form at all (can be housey, break beatey whatever before used), techno trance monotonic and very looped music.
dont forget almost all trance music today (exept full on) is more minimal and that alot of minimal also progressive.
but realy its all ton of shitty words, listen to music, feel it..           Believe your soul !

no way man, read again ulf's post u will see that is not a answer to topic in any way but just "hey, its all shit, all 3 styles boring and have no difference". its a not right by any therms, have nothing with taste.
and ye, im stupid child of course, wish u be same:)

It's just to bad that every party with a bit of kick in it, has to be killed by some proggy-dj...

Why do they have to do this? When the music is finally peaking and people are smiling, some fag starts to play drum-machine-generated crap that makes people run for the chill-room.... It never fails!!

I guess that's why I never go to parties here anymore, because half of the time I'll be spending in the car or the chillout, waiting to catch some interesting tunes...

Orejona last year was the first time in years that I've been able to enjoy the music the full time. There was no house or tech-blablabla for as long as my ears could hear, and it was rocking!!!

In the timeperiod of 95-98, the electronic dance-scene known as Goa-trance was truly on it's peak... I guess that we'll never able to enjoy this again, since 99% of all artists have joined the "german-marching-trend".....

So sad....
