this is a change but i defenetely prefer the old style for me the trance nowadays looks always the same the same line production the same computer programs
if this a dark trance evil it depends of the personal interpretation and the state of mind .but for shure that trashlords ,catla,azax syndrom,alwys makes my day...
due to the fact that ive already have mencionated today trance traks looks always the same |

Can't agree that tracks nowadays always sound the same. If you think nowadays everything sounds alike, then think back to older times. In 1996/1997 a whole lot of artists just made the same stuff. Sometimes you would listen to Cosmosis and think: Hmm Mindfield does sound alike. I think it's just common for the style that's being played in that period. Anyway, I know I'm not complaining with how the scene is turning out. I've been in it since 1997 and the changes that have been, have always (IMO) turned out to be for the best!! Psytrance just rules!!

Anyway, if you want to listen to more melodic and uplifting sounds, then broaden your horizon and listen to regular trance also. If I want my melodic kicks I can always get them from those artists. Try : Clokx - Overdrive, Darren Tate - Elevation, Darren Tate & Jono Grant - Nocturnal Creatures (Jono Remix) ... this is all uplifting and melodic. Ofcourse it's not psytrance... but still... Otherwise, if you really want to stay in the psytrance style, I'd suggest finding older Goa-Head, Tantrance, Pulse compilations and older psy artist albums. Hope you find what you're looking for!!

I guess I am really adverse to anything I consider a "bad trip". Whatever the medium... I just don't even like to go there. You couldn't pay me to watch a movie like "Martix" or "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" to - let alone absorb it in a psychedeliccized state.
I don't mind dark(er)..but some of the night sounds I'm hearing seem like their trying to frighten and cause bad trips. in that case I'd perssonally rather listen to good house music...than russian trax with scream samples and whip cracks...
but if you're going to do it Evil....be sure to balance it out with a brighter sound (M.o.E's party with Xenomorph , followed by Doof/Uv and an outdoor after party sounds like a powerful and complete program i could grit my teeth and smile through)... |

Hey, don't get me wrong dude... I balance my listening experience. When I listen some dark stuff I also listen some lighter stuff, just to keep balance. I never went on a bad trip, and how come you don't like movies like The Matrix?? I'm confused... :S

The Lone deranger isnt dark is it? pps project, now thats dark. I love it, but as already mentioned theres room for everything at psy parties. Just bcoz its dark doesnt mean it should put u in a dark mood - in fact i get happier the darker it is! |

Well i dont know about all of you but i alwase conected to dark and nighty stuff,frome movies,books,and music.I alwase looked for the dark stuff in psytrance,I never realy conected to full on and melodic stuff thats why im kind of happy this so called "dark new revolution" started.And i think that dark trance have an honorable place in a party.and i totaly agree with the Mistress of Evil,please try to accept all styles of music and even if you dont like it dont say its sucks and so on.
We are here to stay,so please be nice and try to accept us in a nice way

These things come in waves, like fashion. We've had the neo-full-on wave for 2-3 years, and now it's time for something new to take over. IMO, the darker sounds will never gain the popularity that neo full-on has, but I think a lot of people can agree that neo-full on has had it's day now. Too many artists producing the same kind of sounds in almost a formulaic way. I seem to remember a lot of similar comments about the minimal-progressive psytrance which peaked in popularity 3 years ago. |

Personally, when you want your party to be a solo experience and not that of a group, dark techtrance with it's potent grooves just sweeps you away. For all of the people who don't like dark music, there's a world out there that you haven't explored yet, and it's (at the very least) just as interesting.
As trip- mentioned, I don't think GOW and Azax Syndrome are all that dark, they are just full-on with some twisted sounds. Midi Milliz is where grooving is not only for the wankers among us.

I`s all about evolution of psy music. soon or later it will come to this. dark psy progress is gonna come more and more as more intelligent music.
Full on will die as a simple stupid music, that is every kid able to produce. It will just become very boring style to listnen..It already did.  |

"Dark psy" puts you into the twilight zone in order to come back from it and enjoy your vizit and memories there...
If you cant understant.. no need to ask... a friend said once....
I agree with the statment that Its all about balance.
I mean i enjoy some GMS in the morning but im crazy about DARK STUFF !!!!

In my mind.. if we compared psytrance to rock music....that some of the harshest new styles are a kind of "Psychedelic Death Metal". They tracks have names like Death Metal bands ( Neuro Damage, Twisted Insanity, Tree of Death, Murder on the dance floor")..and they cause draw the same teeth grinding, trauma invoking, eardrum bursting, black wearin, head banging experience..that the blackest metal bands used to...
last night i was listening to "night music" by X-Dream, Etnica, and Huja Boy - which seemed wicked and dark enough for me..without the Inverted-Pentagram-on-the-forehead and black- leather-pants atmosphere of "death psytrance"....

the nature of human souls is misterious by itself, as the mystery of how we are created and where we came from also.. so in order to get deeper and deeper in iternety of your conscience you have to indetify with yourself.. and you have to admit that this have more to do with misterious dark music than with morning dancy psy music, which I find is more a way to express yourslef and enjoy. |

Dark music is not Evil. It's good for you. Like a rollercoaster. I am not a physiologist, but it seems to me that scary samples, thundering basslines and frightening FX produce adrenaline in our bodies.
