I can proudly say that, I own your debut album "Night Time Lullabies" on Boom recs and love atleast 8 out of the 16 tracks! Now, thats quite rare and has some killer stuff. There are some artists whom I respect a lot and do not hesitate to buy their music without listening to the MP3s..

I dont like digital downloads, prefer only CDs. I would never buy an album wherein I dont like 80% of the music..That's why I download before buying.

It's how you look at it!

The latest entrant is ZAiK.. And ofcourse everyone knows OiG aka Old is Gold... the old school goa and goa-psy rippers! LOL

ZAiK has been ripping releases off my site and repackaging them for consumption in the pirate underground. It's a bit silly if you ask me.

OiG indeed rip and distribute old school releases in the various pirating networks insofar as I know... arguably there is a moral defence to be found here, i.e. out-of-print releases are no longer active within the music marketplace. When you spend some extreme amount of money on eBay or Discogs for that old Goa trance release, neither the original artist nor the label that released it will see a dime of that. But then, what about Avatar and Phonokol and other labels that continue to make old school releases available? I wonder if OiG has conscientiously avoided old school releases that aren't truly out-of-print...

what's wrong with downloading albums? you'd have to be retarded to buy an album without listening through it first.. 99% of the stuff I download, i listen to it once, realise it's a piece of shit and delete it. If i REALLY like it or if i want to use a track off it in a set i'll buy.

Do you see me making any statement to that effect? Nah, I was just having a laugh.

Downloading is a complex issue. It isn't useful to simply say "it's wrong." Obviously it's a problem--a blessing and a curse--but it is impossible to quantify its effects in any meaningful way without more data... but shops, labels, distributors, and artists are typically very tight-lipped about sales figures, and all we really know about downloading is that a lot of people are going to great lengths to move an immense amount of bits around the Internet. And for every unauthorized download that leads to an actual sale there are hundreds that don't...

Downloads arent killing psytrance.

Lack of creativity is whats is going to kill it.

....

Anyway as it has been said before things evolve, conditions change. Artist and labels will have to adapt to survive or will face extintion.

Its called natural selection and all things in the universe are subject to it.

yes the samples are enough for me... maybe I'm a more secure and familiar and secure with first impressions than other people though?

-or maybe people just want to buy beer and mobile phones for their money now as those are impossible to download.

-I would'nt know.

Try to sell some "original" and creative music to any professional label out there, you will see how hard it is

If you don't blend in, then your never gonna get released.           On 2011-03-08 23:13, moki wrote:

The funny thing is, in my oppinion, that you actually CAN find labels who will release you, but you won't sell any records...

-It is not the labels that drive the mainstream tendencies, it is the audience/listeners/consumers.

I don't completely agree with you, you do have a point, but take an example of an electro label like ED Bangers.

That label releases some of the most fucked up original electro out there, and it's one of the most successful labels also.

I think the average listener is looking for original music, but it's just to hard to find.           On 2011-03-08 23:13, moki wrote:
