I'm still trying to get my terms down.
In the end music is music, but if we're going to discuss it with certain terms,
I wish there was some consensus as to what the terms mean!

So, can we define or point to what is Minimal?
Can we reach consensus?

minimal means exactly that, theres not much going on in the music.

but generally, when i hear good minimal music, like Shiva Chandra and XV Killist, there is a lot of work going on for the mind and body.

when I hear poor minimal, theres kik + bass, over which some closed hi hats + snares + sound fx.

Its basically just a term, definately not a genre, for example there is some ambient stuff which can be called minimal it basically depends on the music. and how many notes it is composed of.

Q :Is Mozart minimal??

Ans : FUCK NO!!

i asked this question in another thread but no one gave me an answer and this seems perhaps a more appropriate place to ask it anway (shut up and get on with it anteater ya weirdo..)

so yes ..what is the difference between progressive and minimal?
or maybe thre is no difference in the sense that it is not a sensible question - some progressive is minimal and some is not..
i really don't know...           >>love will tear us apart...<<

progressive mean using of special progressive rythm and deep beats..

how precisely does one assign the adjective 'minimal' to a piece of music? perhaps when one comes from listening to a 60 piece orchestra (or more) and listens to, say, Dragon then they will lay upon it the title of a minimalistic style of music, whereas if they have come from hearing some 3 member high school band playing theyll infact listen to Double Dragon and refer to it as, urrrm, not minimal

i would develope a liner scale of minimality to help us through this bvut
(a) that would be trying to pigeonhole music and
(b) i dont care

it doesnt really matter if there are a lot of sounds or not
its all psytrance to me           mr brainbong (formally the Dancing Coriander king, formally the Dancing Coriander Queen)

In your humble opinion. And mine as well.
But many people think (for some bizzare reason) that it's good music.
Of course it's good, but where is the music?

Minimal is just 1 note, maybe 2. It's consisted mostly of games with fx and percussion...
