Goa trance actually began in UK, Germany etc. and was brought to Goa by the Dj's going there in the Winter.. Goa trance is just another name... Most of the music in this scene has never been produced in Goa

I guess this is the reason that this whole topic was started. I don't understand how you get peace and love by looking at 'spiritual deco, altars ,hindu deities ,buddahs, dragons or anything Arcane' when you don't know what its history is. I prefer psychedelic backdrops, colors and fantasy creatures. I guess thats what hindu gods are mistaken for - Fantasy creatures. No offence to anyone intended by that statement.

i've only seen Natraja rather shiva do that... and Krishna flirting with all the women

maybe in goa, there arn't the conditions to produce the music...but why that name~? is it because of the inspiration? is it because of the place and all the magic around it? if u have never been in goa..go there..if i know how to produce trance music i would call goa to every music if its necessary..just to show the how the place makes us feel so well, free..and complete

all of us need to have the inspiration muses and spiritual feeling and believe in the cosmic world...so in the early 70´s the hiipies and the traveleers find those muses and inpiration in hindu god´s maybe because the cristianism were empty and cold and full of lies...so they find in india the refresh of there body and soul and found that theres more to reality than they have encouter ... there is a strong human feelings and harmony betwenn people that they haven´t experienced until then ...so they went after that goood feelings the religion te hiduism is more beytifull than creiatianism the legends of shiva and his gods are more interesting and it fullfeel there mind and spirit.....so u have to be happy that this music is bleessed by shiva ...

unfortunatly nowdays that feeling and spirit are vanished and people does´t have that goa inspiration anymore ... they only want there ways into comercialism and cosuming and of course they use the "goa" words only to sell records and make partys thats the reason the hunduism dos not take part anymore in the trance scene the new trancers doest care about that thay only want sound and drugs and there no more feeling in the partys ....

this is my humble opinion ...i know becsuse i went in partys in portugal in 95/96/97 and so on... in goa 1999 africa 2001 and olly in that places u can find a litle bit of the goa spirit ....because like we alll the travellers say from long years ago "GOA IS NOT A PLACE, IT´S A STATE OF MIND..."

You know what! From a scene that's surposed to be non religious and accept all religions, cultures etc. it has utterly failed to stay non religious.

Now for a scene to be unreligious the first thing that's nessesary is to get rid of religious symbols. Frankly I dont really care if x-number of travellers think Goa is the next best thing to Heaven and that Ganesh, Aum, Ohm and the expression "Bom Shankar" and other symbols and expresions from Hinduishm make up this scene's vision and image.

The fact is that our scene has been flooded with these religious symbols for now more than 10 years even though the majority of people in this scene has never gone to India or even believe in Hinduism.

I am sure those who seek their personal "truth" and spiritual enlightment ect. etc. embrace and welcome these religious symbols and thats fine. But those people got to understand that there's many if not actually the majority that do not believe in these symbols and Hinduism.

I have always belived in the right to choose your own religion or not to choose to be religious at all. But when a group of people that frequently travel to Goa or a group of Organisers that think it's cool and "in" to use these symbols in all their parties decide that our scene have to be a scene with one religion representing the scene, then the right to choose religion is not longer present for the many many people that do not agree or have a chance to choose. Well they can decide not to go to the parties though but we all know it's hard to stay home when your favorite band play.

So what am I aiming at? My point is that it would be a glorious day if this scene woke up of it's haze and realised that we do not need these religious symbols (Indian, dark, evil or whatever religious symbols) in order to have great parties, enjoy good music and indeed make good music. As someone pointed out. Good mindblowing decoration do not have to be religious at all. It can be totally neutral when it come to religion and still amazing!

I wonder what people that defend these Indian religious symbols or for that matter goat heads and dark religious symbols etc. in our parties would say, if we started to decorate all our parties with crucifixes, Madonna statues and Jesus figures?

And no I am not religious. I would hate to see crucifixes, Madonna and Jesus in parties too.

Who says these scene is "Supposed" to be nonreligious? I was not aware that it was supposed to be or not supposed to be anything! I think you are basing your argument on a totally faulty assumption.

Still, I think you make a good point with the thing about how would I feel about lots of crucufixes, Madonna and Jesus at parties. Believe me I would not be pleased to see a cross at all unless the cross was upside-down
That said, there I have seen one Jesus painting at a party one time. It was a big fluoro painting of Christ, made by one of the party artists for the party. I thought that that was cool because it was just 1 painting, and without other Christian imagary, it provided balance to the excess of Hindu and Native American influenced art without promoting Christianity.

So I do not at all favor removing all religious symbols from parties... I would just like to see a greater diversity of symbols and more thought behind the way they are used. Lest anyone misunderstand my previous posts, I love to see Hindu/Native American influeces at our parties, I just dont like it when I feel that those influences are used thoughtlessly, in ways that I feel cheapens them.
Peace out yall
