I would like to know how come you hear so extremly much of the 'straight 16th' basses (russian style dakadakadaka) nowadays.
The only good things about it is that it easy to program, and doesn't require creativity to make. But it also sounds ungroovy, uninspired and uncreative to me.
I know it's the current trend, and that loads of people like it.....but why is a mystery to me.
Enlighten me please so I also can have fun at the parties...

some not need in complex musical parts to get their joy from music ......... that's why most of us listen to full on...............

they don't know how to make harmony between bass with more than two notes.

you call these artists?

maybe they don't know scales?           if you have psyvideos and you want to exchange, contact me !

I like it very much, but i don't know really why.

I think because stimulates brain frequencies.
It is very energetic and good for dancing, i really love this bassline

But it doesn't mean that a track is not creative or not complex or has no musical part, trance is more than a bassline and a phat kick.
It seems to me that some people want to reduce tracks to kick and bass but there is much more, we know.

A good track need complex stuff and monotonic and repeating parts for the 'trance effect', and for getting a structure.

EYB so if i make this kind of baseline and kick and two melodies with screaming high frequencues synthsizer and open hat and beat that stole from some akai cd it would be creative track too ?

agreed there is more to a track than bass and kick, but if you have a lot of creative parts why stick them on a bog standard bass that everyone is using?
Im not talking about that everyone should be making complex and symphonic super basslines, but just that repeated little extended note or transpose every few bars can save a track in my ears.

If it just sounds like someone put a mic by the generator and plugged it in to the PA, it doesen't induce trance for me.....just boredom

Do you really? Well, I guess you have to wish for that, cause it's haunting you everywhere.

I find it really sad sometimes, cause I often like what is on top of that bassline, find it inspired and psychedelic sounding, but the bassline as such makes everything flat and one dimensional imo.

I think the most creative bassline in groovyness may come from "the nordic countries", but that´s propably because i live here and can relate to our sounds more easily.
I don´t like the dakadaka eithere, but bumdakabumdaka is better:)

I whish there was a choice for me.....but always when I go to a party it is the same bassline in almost every track.
At home I blast much south-african stuff right now. Also act's like penta, gregg on earth and digital talk is great, except from the tracks that feature the dakadaka.
Why do I hardly hear any of that stuff on parties in neither goa or sweden. Most the groovy dancers I know think the dakadakadaka is boring as well.

I been listing to goa trance since the beginning of 90's, and I find that it's unusually much good music available right now. But at the parties I go to the music is more boring than ever.

I guess I will have to stop winching and stay home and to listen to my own collection, until fashion changes again
